Also found the SanDisk 500GB Extreme Portable SSD SDSSDE60-500G-G25 for $130.99 (+ $5.63 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to Australia) down from $169.99

  • Got one of the T5s for $234.65 by price beating MSY at Officeworks recently. After TRS it'll amount to roughly the same, with the bonus of full coverage by Australian Consumer Law!

    • +10

      TRS has a $300 minimum.

Yep - I didn't say that was the only thing I bought at OW ;) Nor does everything have to be on the same receipt…

not much good if you aren’t leaving the country ……

  • +1

If only the 1TB was as good a bargain

    • rule of thumb is still about $300 for 1 tb for a known brand drive …. this deal saves you the trouble if you want 500gb of finding an external case and usb c cases aren’t cheap ….

you wouldn’t get a samsung 500gb drive and usb c case if bought as separates much cheaper and the nice form factor.

but who knows what drive is inside evo850 ?

If you're a student, you can get this for $183 through the Samsung education store.

This is worth its own post

    • Thanks for the tip - alumni email at UWA worked for me :)

and use Westpac credit card to get further 10% off (log into Westpac website to get more details).

      • how do you do this? there is nothing on their website

        • +1

It may be targeted. Log into you Westpac account, then go to the offers and reward section. There will be upto 75% off Samsung products.

          From their website:

Up to 65% off* the RRP
          on selected Samsung products
          Offer ends 31 May 2018

Westpac customers can purchase from a range of products in the Westpac Offers Samsung Store. Enjoy up to 65% off* selected products including refrigerators, washing machines, memory and more. Plus, enjoy free delivery to any Australian address!

And at least for me they are offering expedia and iconic 10% off as well. Again it may be targeted so YMMV

The link on the education site for the SSD isn't working. Anyone have a direct link?

        https://shop.samsung.com/au/multistore/auepp/samsung_educati…

There you are, rightclick, open in a new tab worked for me. 1TB model shown.

I'm annoyed, as I bought one of the 1TB models this morning via stacked coupons at eBay and paid $60 more than I should have. Totally forgot about the samsung edu store! :-(

    • if it works with any edu address that would be post worth doing ….even primary school kids get edu email address now from their school ……

  • If you guys are into china… 480GB SSD (shows 480GB in windows, so I guess thats '500GB' like the others).

$90.09 USD delivered, which is about $119.95 AUD. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/366810

    • +4

      shows 480GB in windows

But can you write 480gb to it?

      • +5

"480GB" only takes 5 bytes, so I imagine you can.

    • expired deal …and then still need to add a usb-c case …… and then it won’t be as small physically as these dedicated external ssd drives …..

      some are even weather proof.

Has been this price many times before over the last year, good deal though

Just for those thinking it's a must buy steal of a deal

The rugged SanDisk one looks great though

    • Has been this price many times before over the last year, good deal though

If by many times you mean parts of December 10-12, December 18-29 and January 1-6 when it was $149.99 you would be correct but it hasn't dropped to $149.99 since early January and it was first available in August 2017.

Just for those thinking it's a must buy steal of a deal

You either need it or you don't, the price is the best it's been for a quite a while and there is no sign of an impending new model hitting the market anytime soon. Not to mention at the start of July we have to pay GST on Amazon purchases.

      • +3

Not negging the deal mate, I'm just aware a lot of people buy things on here for FOMO, and might appreciate the heads up that if not essential, don't need to rush out to buy.

The first comment would trigger that with a bunch of people imo.

Good point about GST though, so a great buy if required.

    Thanks, grabbed one.

  • $219 at Harvey Norman if you want to pick one up instead of waiting for delivery.
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-t5-usb3-1-type-c-500…
They also have the 250GB drive for $119.

OfficeWorks price matched Harvey Norman but you probably won't see much stock for sale for this price at OfficeWorks.
