Vodafone $5/Day Roaming

Going to Canada (Vancouver)/ NYC for 15-16 days in total

are the speed okay on roaming?

just checked TSD and they have a 24gb card but that $129. If I roam, it's like 80 bucks but my plan is 50gb

I use a fair bit of data for games and apple music

Thanks in advance

This comment will probably get negged, but are you going on this trip to play games and listen to music? I can understand a little downtime, but isn't part of a trip about experiencing where you are?

just under 1/2 of the trip I'm actually at a dragon boat race so a lot of down time.. we are taking about maybe racing for 10-15 mins and then rest of the day from 7am-4pm you just sit there killing time at the race venue

      • Try and pick up some women. Cmon bruh

        • uber or lyft?

  • Not sure about the roaming in the US. Their networks use very different bands to Australia, so lots of phones won't even work there with a US sim card.

  • Can't vouch for Canada/US, but the Voda roaming in Japan and Lithuania, speeds were better than back home :). This was back in 2016.

  • For $80 I'd just pay. Mobile data in Canada is very expensive. 7-11 was the cheapest I could find.

I used Vodafone's $5 roaming when I went to Europe/Asia. For me, the speed was the same as if I had signed up for with a local service provider.

The only thing you'd probably want to keep in mind is it's a $5 a day charge to use your own plan inclusions. So, even if you only opened up WeChat to check 1 message that day, you'd be charged $5 for that day, despite you not using anymore data for the remainder of the day.

  • I just got back from 14 days in the US and used my Vodafone $5 per day roaming, so glad I did it. Speed was pretty decent and signal was really good!
Just make sure you know when you dates reset etc and if you use majority of data overseas, plan to use less here or vice versa.

    • Thanks… sounds good then

I used it all over USA a few years ago and never had any issues, would recommend.

I've used it all over Europe, its fantastic. Speeds are pretty good. I use a fair amount of data while in Europe, because I used Google Maps to get everywhere, and we walked to every place. So my phone, a data connection and a Xiaomi Powerbank were me 3 essentials going anywhere.

  • Data? The girls in Canada would likely give you some novelty funtime, including the 'you only live once' type of girls.

  • Vodafone was perfect in Hong Kong, china and Japan.

  • Voda roaming is great, I've used it through most of Asia, UK and US with no problems.

  • I used in in Canada and USA last year and had not complaints.
