How would these compare to the Voll bookshelf speakers?

    • Aren't Voll passive speakers?

      • a44 active
        b44 passive

      • I'm not meaning in terms of that - I mean in terms of sound quality.

        • +1

Haven't heard the Voll's personally but I can vouch for these edifiers. Plenty of volume up high but still has detail at low volumes. Absolutely love them

        • @Lilqueotie:

Do you experience any lag with Bluetooth speakers when watching films? We tried to use ue boom in stereo with a laptop as a media box. The one second lag made the film unwatchable.

        • @whooah1979:
Use VLC for playback, that will give you option to delay video (actually add positive offset to audio)

        • @Yanluk:

          Thanks.

  • Will these kick the shit out of the yamaha yas107 for movies? Not sure if the fake surround you get with the yamaha helps?

Didn't know people bought speakers that have poop in them.

      • sure, adds poopy 2.1 to poopy movies.

only a 4" bass driver …… my experience is the size of the bass driver makes a bigg difference.

I'd almost look at the options of Voll passive with a separate $30 digital amp, or the Voll active …

not a big fan of active as usally at this price point it's one map for 2 speakers (amp is in one of the speakers) , and that one speaker then runs hot …. with passive and separate amp heat issues are solved.

  • Can these be used for gaming?

    • +3

You can use the PC speaker on your motherboard for gaming.

      mum said no. too loud.

    • I use the non-bluetooth version of these for my PC and they are perfect for that. I used to use an amp and bookshelf speakers but the Edifier active speakers are great since you don't need an amp that takes up space. I got mine at an Officeworks clearance for $25 though, so was really pleased with them for that price.

  • Do these have aptx hd?

    • I was wondering the same but very doubtful. I looked up the manual on Edifer site and just says 'mobile device supports A2DP and AVRCP profile.'
Doesnt even say what version of bluetooth it uses.

Is this ONE speaker, or a pair of speakers?

    • +1

      its a pair

      • Oh wow it really is a deal
I just assumed it was surely only one

  • Good review here, comparing to some nice floor-standing speakers, these certainly hold up for the money

    • Jeez that guy talks slow

      • Now you mentioned it I definitely noticed it, I tried to speed it up to 1.5x but there was no option lol

  • Have had R2000DB for over 2 years…

I really like them, and the sound they make.

    • Thanks for letting us know.

thinking of replacing my aging Z5500 logitech which we use in the bedroom with the projector.. would the laptop automatically connect to the bluetooth upon startup? Not sure about the sound quality when compared to the logitech..
