Mont: Fleece Jackets (Seconds) for $39 down from $189

551

Mont rarely has any deals.
Even though i'm not in Oz anymore (tear), i think this deal is quite good. I'm currently in NZ and the deals here are awful. Looking at stores here i found nothing close to these sort of prices. Added bonus that these guys ship to NZ so we bought 4!
Free shipping within oz for orders over $50.
Generally quality products on offer here, but just be warned no refunds, no warranty and no returns.
Hope someone finds this useful.

You poor bugger. I don’t know what I’d do with myself if I moved to nz. Probably look longingly at ozbargain to see what I was missing out on. Think of the money you are saving from buying stuff you don’t need just cos it’s a bargain.

    • Yeah deals are scarce there too…better to look on ozbargain more

    • Deals scarce on there too..

Question OP - Why the big hype around these jackets please? Very little found on the web by way of reviews.

Also, are they true to size?

    Thanks @bullettime.

    • +1

Mont is Aussie brand. Some of their stuff is great, and I can't find any better replacement in any other brand on some items (their neck warmers are amazing but are rare to find even at their store).

I don't have this jacket so I am curious if its any good.

    • No idea! First time buying these jackets. Under $40 for a fleece jacket is quite good, and Mont products are generally quite good.

  • +1

These jackets are marked as seconds because some, but not all, customers found higher than expected pilling

    • Clearly something wrong if no refunds or exchanges are being offered. Would prefer them tell the customer why they are seconds.

      • +4

Can they legally say "no refunds"? I was under the impression that they couldn't.

        • +1

Clearly a breach of the act. They can refuse change of mind but cannot refuse refund for faulty goods.

    • I owned one of these, it was a great jacket but yeah, it pilled really quickly.

      • Anything you can do to remove the pills?

  • Thanks op bought 2.

  • Probably the site is being ozbargained…

Yes indeed. The web link is taking ages to load. I guess their ADSL2+ connection is being hammered.

    Except for their internet…

Not sure if I can trust a deal from a Kiwi. Especially one whose profile still says NSW :)

  • Thanks OP, ordered 2. Fingers crossed.

Just bought one too, seems like very good price hope the quality is good.
Instead of paying the $10 shipping I added 11m of their 2mm cord for $11 to make it exactly $50 for free shipping :D

    • +2

I looked for something to bring it up to $50 and couldn't find anything, a pair of socks is $20.
I'm not paying $20 for socks.
I didn't see the cord, ended up getting a second jacket, I hope I like them.
They must be good jackets, coming from a place where socks cost $20.

      • FWIW I bought the keyring/knife to bump it over the $50 mark…..

if you guys are in Sydney, then do a "group buy" to get 'free shipping',
and then distribute the items when they arrive.

  • OP, Both links are currently going to the Mens ones.

They can't tell the difference in New Zealand

  • There are also some women's capri pants on sale for $25

Just to confirm from earlier, response from Mont,
" These jackets are marked as seconds because some, but not all, owners found higher than expected pilling. The fabric was passed by Polartec USA but failed by Mont quality control. The garments on sale now are new & unused. Please let me know if you have any other questions."

$189 for a fleece. North face glacier retails $90. I wonder how good these are.

I managed to get North Face glacier one for $50 a month ago from David Jones and they are great.

$39 with no refunds or exchange still looks like a fair bit of gamble.

You can get Columbia ones around $45-$50 i think.

  • I love a good fleecing…

On another note, my experience with Mont has been excellent.

Looking for a bargain in my size…

    https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/products-and-services/refund…

"Consumers have the same refund rights on seconds and samples as they would have on full-price products.

However, they cannot claim a refund for problems that:

the store or seller told them about
they should have noticed when examining the product
were indicated in photos or the item description on the website."

  • This website is a nightmare to use, someone feed the damn hamster. Thanks tho OP…. once I'm in will grab his+hers

    • Took me 30 minutes but I DID IT!! Order complete and confirmation email received. This reminds me of when there was a $20 gaming mouse offered and most of OzB wanted it. If you're keen but struggling just breathe and stick with it!

      • I actually emailed and mentioned how terrible the site is - they have upped server capacity in the last hour and performance is looking much better.

  • AAAAAAh this website is soooo bad!
Thanks for the link OP … trying to get a warm jacket but the website is killing me haha

  • Just ordered. Limited sizes left in blue, I ordered Lrg Coffee colour, and Med in the Blue. This will work well as a combo for layering with the tighter one fitting underneath for added warmth.

    Thanks OP!

  • Anaconda has(had?)Columbia Mens Fast Trek 2 full zip front fleece for $59…great value IMHO

  • SECONDS ….. Not worthy .

    I'm adopting this marketing technique.
Set up a site with a heap of exorbitantly priced items and one apparent bargain.
Make the site slower than Parnell's pitch drop, it makes them want it more.

  • Damn, love the look of these jackets, all sold out!

  • +2

    All sold out, it seems

  • Anyone got anything similar I could buy for the same sort of price?

    • There is a brand called Outrak at raysoutdoors. I am not sure how good they r but they wr $30 on half price last week.

      • Thanks, I'll have a look!

    • Wilderness Wear (also Australian made) have fleece jackets reduced to $50

      https://wildernesswear.com.au/clearance

  • Off topic question: need a slim but very warm kind of jacket and pants for both indoors pajamas wear and one for outdoor wear.

Winter is really coming this year imho.

FWIW Mine arrived today. Definitely seems good quality. Would not have paid full price for it, but good value at the discount. As others have said, the 'no warranty or returns' thing is an empty threat here in Australia, unless you try to return it because you changed your mind or because the material 'pills' as warned was a possible issue. Will see if it lasts, but wearing now! :-)

  • I got mine today. Seems ok for $39

  • Got an email today telling me that they'd sold out of the colour I'd already ordered and paid for. Another business with a useless real-time stock list, and another business on my banned list.

    • I ordered 8n 2 different colours but got the same colour. (even though the invoice says 2 colours!)

  • +1

The jackets seem very good for the price. Thanks OP.

    • Second that…seems to be good.

  • Hey crew. I got a Large chocolate men's but I think I'd rather it a bit tighter. Does anyone have a medium that's a bit too small they'd like to swap?

  • Mine arrived today, less than 2 weeks from being shipped to nz. Correct sizes and colours. Look and feel warm, can't wait to wear them.
