Nice one! There's many great games in that list. I've been wanting to play Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor for a while.

Often for sale for <$5, buy it it's worth it : )

    • Shadow of War is just as good.

      • Is all the talk of pay to win worth considering? I enjoyed the first but don't want to have to worry about needing to pay for in game content to make the follow up worthwhile.

        • After 6 months release Monolith grew some eyeballs and saw that the lootboxes were undermining the Nemesis system (no shit monolith.), they already removed the ability to purchase Gold with real money and in June they are removing the whole market.

It took this damn long for them to take action but we all know the real reason is that they made their money by now and there is no point fo it being ingame anymore.

        • i never bought anything and was enjoying the game fine. i never understood the hate for in game purchases, you don't need to pay for in game content if you dont want to.

Sweet, after I download one of these games on our awesome Australian internet connection, I'll have a whole hour or two to play for free!

      Optimistic..

      You must be on NBN.

    • +3

I'm on NBN and get around 8 MB/s on steam

Aussie internet is fast for me

      • Yeah me too, completed download Dirt 4.

      • At my workplace, I'm able to get 24/mbs on steam.

      • +2

        Non-NBN HFC, 13 MB/s

        • +1

Same…. Dont want to jump on the NBN. Only bad days are Saturday nights.

        • Delay the move as long as you can.

My Optus cable connection was just as fast and way more reliable than my NBN HFC connection with ABB.
(I don't care about upload speed)

I don't understand. I've had Telstra and Optus broadband. And downloads have always been fast.

I had TPG for a short time. That was slow and disconnected a lot.

      • Largely depends where you live I'm lucky to even get 4Mb/s

        • +2

          4 Mbps? Pffft - luxury!

If the gods are shining upon us, we can get 2.6 Mbps on a good day with a tailwind. And I'd bet we're not the worst.

Anyway… enough of my first-world problems

      • Ive got normal ADSL 2+ With Telstra. No NBN available in my area yet, but I’m able to get 10mbps at peak and 16mbps when no one is on the internet. Slow at downloading, but quick on multiplayer.

    • Solid 1.5 megabytes per second here until I upgrade my own from hopefully 12/1 to something like 50/20.

      • I went with Telstra ADSL2+ about a month ago at ~ 4Mbps knowing NBN was coming soon. They talked me into upgrading to the Connect Plus (pay extra $10 to get 50Mbps - or minimum 40Mbps in their words). I now get 16Mbps, and have been told that's the max due to quality of line from node to house.

Their solution: downgrade back to 25Mbps (20 min). I know they can't achieve that either, but will probably have to before I can exercise the "nbn satisfaction guarantee" and get out of the contract.

My only concern is they reckon they will be fixing the problem. If I go elsewhere, I guess the problem will never be resolved??

    • I use to have this issue then moved to an area that has decent fibre, I feel for those that are still in the black zones.

    • I've been getting 80+ mb/s on my Optus cable plan for years. I really hope NBN never makes it to my street to destroy that.

  • I think TerraTech is free this weekend too.

I religiously check http://steamdb.info/sales/ every Friday for free weekend games. It rarely misses any freebies.

  • I have 14USD in wallet idk what the (profanity) to buy :(

    • Try The Cave.

      • hmm looks interesting
I'm not really a fan of these indie games though and want to buy one of the big titles like middle earth, cities skylines or borderlands.

        • Well, then I would recommend in this order:

          1. Borderlands
          2. Middle Earth
          3. Cities Skylines

If recommendations are based on the current Steam prices:

          1. Middle Earth
          2. Cities Skylines
          3. Borderlands.

Spend $1.49 extra and you can get both Middle Earth and Cities Skylines with your credit.

Actually, the following would be best to get as you will get two games:

          https://store.steampowered.com/sub/46441/

And then spend $3.49 extra to also get Cities Skylines. Three games for an outlay of $3.49US. Pretty good.

        • @Lysander: I wanna buy the borderlands package but 2 has no DLC in it, will that be a problem? Problem is that I have no balance in bank or paypal and I don't wanna head down to the atm cuz its raining and wet as (profanity) (thanks perth)so it's gotta be in that budget.

        • @Basimx:

Borderlands 2 has plenty of content without the DLC. I have not got most of them and played 100+hours single player and I have not reached Max level. There is multiplayer too.
Plus, if you are not tied to buying from Steam, sometimes you can get the GOTY edition for $5 which has all of the DLC. Even though the main game is then wasted people get it just for the DLC. DLC is also on sale fairly regularly, and again, if you are not tied to buying from Steam, then that is fine.

If you were not tied to Steam you could get Shadow of Mordor for $5 (for example: Fanatical: https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/middle-earth-shadow-of-m…).

I would not worry too much about it.

PM me your wishlist - maybe something is on there where the $4 remainder can be used.

        • @Lysander: I think I'll get the borderlands 1 and 2. If I like 2 then I can buy DLC next time it goes on sale (like you said it's on sale quite often)
My last question is with the DLC, does it need to be played at a specific time during the game? for example in Witcher 3 the hearts and stone DLC has to be played before you finish the base game.
For now gonna wait to see if something else pops up, if not then I'll buy the borderlands $10 deal.

        • @Basimx:

No, I do not think so. I did not do that.

But to level up fully (one of the DLC increases max level) you need to play through the game twice anyway.

I am pretty sure though that no particular order is required.

As I said, if you PM me your wishlist, I am happy to check if we can do something with the remaining credit (example: we (well, mainly the kids) have a game on your wishlist - you can use your $4 to buy one of our wishlist (within that budget) if you do not have extra keys to trade - win-win for everybody)

        • @Lysander: Sorry I'm still kinda confused as to what you mean ? ;D I have nothing on my wishlist though
