      Seagull (Chinese movement)

In its manufacture, high-quality materials, 19 precious stones were used, as well as a safety mechanism with a movement frequency of 21600 times/hour and a power reserve of more than 40 hours. Also, the durable glass will be resistant to scratches and falls.

I'm not into skeletonised watches and that kind of money is more than I'd pay for something like this.

        I'm out.

It's a strange idea to buy a non-branded mechanical watch with a non-branded movement (yes, Xiaomi is not a brand, sorry…)
Cheap mechanical watches are less accurate than a quartz watches, less functional than smart watches, and most importantly, uglier than proper watches (I would say ugly AF but it's in the eye of the beholder).

In other words, it's a total waste of money.

If you are interested in mechanical watches but don't want to spend a lot of money on them, look at Seiko or Hamilton. If you like wearing one, buy a proper one eventually, but save this AUD237.32.

      • Helpful, thanks. I don't know why you were negged!

      • +2

Don’t know why you got downvoted, $230+ is waaayyy overpriced for no brand chinese automatics.
With that money you can get a nice Seiko 5 (plenty of designs to choose from) or an Orient Bambino.
If you like this Xiaomi’s, gulps, design, I’m sure I’ve seen heaps of similar skeleton watches on Ali for sub $50.
Seems people just automatically upvote anything Xiaomi these days..

Does it have Cherry MX switches?

    • Yes, full size keyboard with 20 macro keys!

    • it ticks doesn’t click.

      • Is it at least mechanically RGB

  • -1

Wish there was a code for an Amazfit pace.

In terms of design, this is basically an Apple watch with all the electronics replaced with a mechanical movement.

    • +1

Xiaomi would never copy Apple! EVER!

      • this is their first attempt to out innovate apple ….”apple watch homage”

, with so many people just using smart phones to tell the time or wearing fit bit like watches it might be cool in some circles in china to have an auto watch where you can see the mechanics …it’s cooler than a rolex copy, at least it’s original.

    • -1

      AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

    • half of xiaomi's products are apple replicas but actually good

  • +10

This is very expensive for a Chinese auto watch, for this kind of money or less you can buy something from a reputable watch making brand like Seiko, Orient, Citizen.

If you want to buy a Chinese mushroom branded auto watch with sapphire lens for a reasonable price then keep an eye out on this thread as Watchuseek member HoustonReal is always posting them. He knows way more than me about Chinese watches.

    Best of Aliexpress

    • +1

He knows way more than me about Chinese watches

      praise from caesar indeed

      • Julius or Nero?

    • +2

you’d have to be buying it for the design …..at this price you could get an invicta wr200 with n35a movement display back so can show what a non quartz looks like inside and several slabs of beer and dominos so you could invite your friends around and show off your new watch.

there would need to be something innovative in the movement design eg coaxial or chrono accuracy to get me excited for watch that is almost impossible to read the time.

      • to get me excited for watch that is almost impossible to read the time

Indeed! I was thinking that's why I bought a $45 Casio recently, so I could actually read the time. Apparently a novel idea for a watch.

  • +6

Way overpriced, its real price is 899RMB (186.27AUD).

  • 0 Jewels - No Deal

  • It won't pull chicks. Geeks will feel underwhelmed. Not the best for reading time. I can't think of its purpose.

  • "And you don't wanna (profanity) with a CIGA like me"

  • +2

You'd have rocks in your head if you bought this watch at this price. You could buy a good quality auto from a trusted, well known manufacturer for less. Or even well known Chinese mushroom brands of decent quality will save you some money. Chinese movements are notorious for not being lubricated enough or having dust in them. Also, if this Xiaomi stuffs up, NOBODY will touch it and it'll be a paper weight.

If you really want a skeleton watch or square watch, have a look on AliExpress or look for a Seven Friday homage.

    • -2

Slightly off topic but SevenFriday costs around 1k.

      • +1

        SevenFriday homage.

        Example:

        Gitmo

        Megir

      • -1

He did mention a homage which is essentially a replica

        • +1

He did mention a homage which is essentially a replica

Wrong. A homage is definitely not a replica.

Replicas are banned on OzBargain. A replica is deceitful and carries the branding of the original manufacturer of which it is pretending to be. A homage is a tribute and draws inspiration - sometimes too much. If I was to name the amount of Rolex Submariner homage watches on the market I would quickly run out of fingers and toes.

The watches I linked are cheap quartz fashion watches. I don't think they will be confused for the real thing.

Even Ozbargain's favourite cheapie, the Navioforce 9044 is a homage of the Citizen Eco-Drive AW1360-12H

        • @ilikeit:

You had me really excited when I thought there was a watch named after Gitmo.

  • Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM5h2kgcELU

Xiaomi is not the same as other cheap brands because they focus on quality control.
Anyone who has used other Xiaomi products will know it is low price but higher quality.

But this is not the best price.
It is cheaper at the normal RMB price.

  • -4

The negative deal vote button is near the top on the left.

  • The price notwithstanding, Seagull movements are actually very reliable and accurate. Independent tests have shown some seagull models match or beat Swiss mechanical movement in terms of accuracy. Google it. In addition, Seagull is actually one of the biggest and oldest watchmakers in China. They make tourbillons for collectors. This is not a no name mushroom watchmaker.
