Mt Buller Lift Passes 50% off $36 (Age 5-18) $64 (Adult)

    So it's 50% off those prices ???

Because for a family of four, $200 for a daily lift pass is not much of a bargain.

    • No, oh one who lives in the 90's, that is the 50% off prices.

    • standard lift price at mt buller is $130…

      • so $520 for a family of 4, just to use the lift?

I often think that a chronic drug addiction would be cheaper than a skiing addiction.

Adult lift tickets are $130, kids are $70. Multiple day tickets are available and knock a little off the price with each additional day. Lessons are additional, as is equipment hire. Once you add fees to enter the national park, car parking fees, village taxi fees and overnight accommodation, you'll really struggle to get a weekend for a family of four in for under $1k…

… but the feeling of zooming down a slope at 70kph on a beautiful sunny day just after it's dropped 30cm of fresh snow overnight is unlike anything else on the planet, and makes it all worthwhile in the end!

        • @playswithfire:

Doing my knee, hip and ankle has saved me a fortune. Miss it heaps though. Maybe August i can try again. But still not buying tickets in advance.

        • @quog: I got 7 days at Buller last year, over 3 trips up. Was an amazing season last year, hoping it works out just as well this time.

    No wonder I don't ski in Australia anymore…. I can't afford to.

Still a good saving, if your travelling midweek or off-peak.

  • I heard if you want to go skiing for an extended amount of time (Say 2-3 weeks) its much cheaper to go to new zealand. Is this true?

    • +1

If you staying on the mountain it equals out in days not weeks and much better quality snow and terrain in NZ. Aus is crazy prices these days

  • Growing up we used to do the dodgy and buy the beginners pass (was something like 40% off normal) you were supposed to be only on green runs. Only got pulled up on it once and we pulled out a map to ask where we were. They probably dont have these anymore though due to undesirables like me taking advantage of it….

  • Boarding/skiing is definitely an expensive sport, but try to think of the lift tickets this way:

$64 for eight hours of entertainment is only $8 per hour which is pretty reasonable in my opinion.

plus the car park $55 a day $44 online, petrol (the highest its been for awhile), and double the price food im thinking its not cheap

      • +1

cheaper to take a flight to NZ and go to the snow there…

        • For a single person, definitely. For a family of four, well, air tickets don't quite scale like piling everyone in the car!

        • @playswithfire:

Have you seen how much family accomodation costs on the Australian slopes vs NZ

    • +1

$64 for eight hours of entertainment

You spend 8 hours on the lift ????? When do you ski?

  • Pretty crap that u need to pick the day.

  • Since when were 15 YO adults?

  • Tried some dates in August - showing up as $115/day (for a weekend) for an adult. Expired?

  • Note these prices are only for off season, not peak.

  • So tickets for June and September are the cheap ones, the link has standard advance pricing for peak season of July and August, when the snow is usually best.
