Any chance of a 2 day stop over in Singapore?

NVM: It's 24 hour stopovers both way, awesome!
NVM2: This is for next week :P

Some of these specials are only good for people who don't work and can take off on a whim on an overseas holiday with a week or two's notice. Perfect if you're retired with fat superannuation.

I think travel completely contradicts work rather than compliment these days :(

Travelling when you're full time is like a rushed job, travelling without a job is blissful, cheap and exciting.

Too bad one relies on the other………..

I did 6 weeks in Europe on $3k when I was 20. Flew to about 10 cities too!

Two weeks In Europe or South America seems a lot of travel for too short a time.

        • @Eeples: Yeah. :(

      • Yer, it’s tricky.

Waiting until you are 60 before going on trips though…… is hard to do; and you could get hit by a bus or sick and it can never happen.

Waiting until you are 90 before going on cruises….. not good either imo. For one it is unlikely you can enjoy the day trips.

        • I did a 2 week princess cruise dept. from Melbounre to NZ and it was really good for the time. It didn't feel rushed and there was plenty of stops around both the north and south island and we got to see the beautiful Milford Sound on the way back which was really cool.

Just looking at the Brisbane departure times on Aunt Betty ; the stopover in Singapore is less than 90 minutes (only 70!) :

    arrive Singapore Thu, 7 Jun 18 12:15AM
    departs Thu, 7 Jun 18 1:25AM

Is this sufficient time for baggage to be transferred to next leg?

    Similarly on way back …

    arrive Singapore Mon, 18 Jun 18 5:55AM
    depart Singapore Mon, 18 Jun 18 7:20AM

I know I have had issues with Qantas and such short transfer times; I was able to make the flight, but the baggage never did.

    Thoughts from frequent travellers?

Given it's an entirely Singapore Air itinerary then I'd think you'd be fine + they are selling the same route through their own website. Singapore Airport is very efficient. It's not like other airports where you have to go International to Domestic, it's all International.

    • +2

I've had 40min transfer windows with no issue with luggage. I usually take 60min transfers, never had issues with luggage.

It'll be fine in Singapore airport.

Changi Airport is amazing, I fly through there multiple times a year. I've had a 50 minute transfer and even had time to grab a quick drink in the lounge!

Unlike most airports where you go to an International Transfers section, go through security, and then go to your gate. Changi Airport has a security scanner at literally every single gate, so the lines are almost non-existent.

    • More than enough time. Did a London flight last year through SIN with less than 60 mins layover and bags turned out fine. Just need to run a bit from gate to gate. :)

    • Hi first time flying. Once I arrive do I just go straight to the next gate? What happens to the luggage? Auto transfer?

      • Yep.

      • +1

Straight to the next gate. As I mentioned above Changi Airport has security screening at each gate, so once you've cleared that, you have to wait in there. If you have less than 1 hour, just go straight to the gate. If you have a few hours to kill, its best to find your gate but not go straight through security. Once you've found it, explore the Airport for a bit until its around an hour until your flight.

Luggage will auto transfer. When checking in for the first flight, just ask the check in person and they will confirm with you. You're able to check as you get a small little sticker/receipt, this should list all the flight numbers through to your final destination and is basically a record of which flights your bag will be on (obviously the same flights as you). If only 1 of your 2 flights is listed on the sticker/receipt, then I would question it, but I've literally never had that happen.

  • Just the option of the one travel date for each city at this price?

Sorry I bought the last pair of cheap shoes in Switzerland last fortnight. Everything is back to being expensive! 😬

    • Hence why you go shopping in Germany/France/Italy and bring supplies with you back to Switzerland!

  • If you plan it right and early, you can do an entire euro trip with one qay flights with ryan air from 9.99-20 euros depending on ur locations.

For example zurich to london is 60 aud then london to most euro contries from 15-30 aud

    • Anyone know how suitable Ryan Air is for tall (>190cm) people? I ask because budget carriers often have cramped seats.

      • +1

Ryan Air seats are cramped (didn't have this problem on Scoot, Tiger, Air Asia etc.) and there wasn't much room left for me (180cm). Very cheap flights though

        • Thanks. I'll still consider them for flights of an hour or so, it's hard to argue with low prices.
