Will This Phone Work in Australia?

Hi Guys, I'm interested in getting this deal for my mother in law https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/375629 365 days all you can eat plan. She doesn't need data. Just woindering if it will work with this phone, any thought would be appreciated. https://www.banggood.com/DBEIF-F9-1_77-Inch-800mAh-Bluetooth…

It seems to me this phone is small, light, rugged and has long standby time. The phone will sit in her handbag or glove box mopst of the time and only come out if she needs to be contacted or call one of her kids in an emergency. Any other solutions are welcome.

  • looks like a phone terrorists would prefer. definitely fashionable, if you like phones that look like a detonator.

get a nokia 3310, definitely more appropriate and better valued than a $18 phone for a mother-in-law.

    • Lol you are so right. Why are there so many stock photos of guns on the screen of the phone? And then the random Darth Vader mask? I think I want one now

  • the cheap feature phones in china don't have 3G frequencies. You can't use them in Australia since 2G is now (mostly) switched off.

  • What interests does your mother-in-law have that would require such a rugged phone?

  • Thanks guys. My needs are simple (for my mother in law).

    A phone, which:

    a) Has a long battery life (in standby)
    b) Smallish and light

The idea being that she will hardly ever use it, unless her car breaks down or she turns up on the doorstep of one of her kids houses and nobody is home.

More often than not, we need to be able to call her.

    Cheers.

So is the consensus view a nokia 3310? Any thought on where to get one to complement the Kogan mobile 365 day deal?

    • Well. The Nokia's have always gone on special at the supermarkets.

Supermarkets are strangely, often the cheapest places to buy low-end feature phones and even smartphones, but they're always carrier subsidized and locked to a network. Search on eBay or Officeworks for unlocked ones.

  • Star Wars Episode VII was not subtitled "A New Dawn".
