iPhone X Disabled. Connect to iTunes.

Hi All,
My young niece entered wrong passcode in my iphone X 10 or more than 10 times.
It says
iphone disabled
Connect to itunes

There is no option to enter passcode.
I am currently overseas without access to my home PC that I normally sync this phone.

Spoke to local tech here, he says the phone has to be wiped and it ll be like a new phone.
I might have back up until Dec 2017.

I have lot of data in phone as pics and videos of my son who is 3 months old.

I do have the correct passcode but there is no option to enter passcode

All those tries after 1 min, 15 min and 60 min are gone.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

I will have access to original computer after 4 weeks.

If anyone knows any third party software (freeware) please help.

Any third party software? If you are able to install third party software, why not just install iTunes?

Take the SIM card out, buy a shitty burner type of phone so you can at least still send and receive calls and messages. Buy a cheap camera to take photos. Put your iPhone in your luggage till you get home.

It all sounds a bit shifty to me. To enter the wrong passcode in 10 times, was your neice left alone with the phone for half a day? After a few wrong attempts I thought they started locking you out for periods of time? Questions like this usually have an underlying truth to them that usually involve stolen or found iPhones.

    • There’s very little 3rd party software that could help you here. No freewhere thars for sure.

Why the heck was your young niece allowed access to your phone ? Mine have asked many times and the answer is always “No”

The OP May have some luck if they’ve synced their phone with iTunes before on the same computer. They at least may be able to get their stuff off.

This is a good reminder to always have a back up and use iCloud storage for photos.

    • Unable to install itunes bcoz latest version requires win 7 sp1. I have basic win 7 home edition on laptop

Sounds like a stolen phone to me.

    • My intention is to get data. Wiping phone is easy,
      If its stolen

  • If anyone knows any third party software (freeware) please help.

If it was that easy, it wouldn't be good security.

If you still want the contents, wait until you get home and connect to iTunes.

  • Not really an iphone user but can you log into a computer with itunes and try? maybe it will recognise the log in or sync data.

I'd be weary of trusting the word of apple "geniuses".

  • Guys,
    Phone is not stolen,
I honestly never knew it will be locked after 10 wrong attempts.

    • Just do it when you get home. If you plug it into a new computer it’ll want to wipe itself.

If you plug it in at home it might be recoverable or your photos might be accessible through another application such as image capture on Mac or just using windows explorer on windows.

The problem is, 10 wrong attempts is not a 30 second exercise. It has to be done over about 2 or 3 hours. You get a few goes, and it locks down for 5 mins. A few more wrong goes it start locking out for 15. After that, it locks down for an hour.

To me, it sounds more like you found the phone, you tried to input codes and it has locked you out. Again, I reiterate, how was your “neice” allowed continued access to the phone to input 10 bad codes. You didn’t pick the phone up in 2 or 3 hours and unlock it during normal use? And the neice stayed entertained enough to wait out the hour long lock out, just to try again?

If it is actually your phone, just pack it away till you get home. If your neice has unfettered access to such a degree that hours lapse before you realise she has been using it, then you won’t miss it. Enjoy your holiday. Take the sim out and put it in another phone if you’re that desperate for a phone that you seem to leave unattended for a few hours…

      • "The niece" wouldn't need that long to lock it out. The first 5 attempts have no impact.

        6th is 1 minute
        7th is 5 minutes
        8th is 15 minutes
        9th is 1 hour
        10th is disabled

She'd only need 1hr 21mins with the phone.

        • That is if she just sat there and tried the next number right on time. Chances are, she wouldn’t have.

  • Did you have format phone if passcode fails after 10 times enabled?

    • No i haven't enabled this function

      • In this case login to icloud via a computer and go to the Find My iPhone section. After this click on the device and take it out of lost mode in the menu of the selected device.

        • I just did what u asked. it says device offline. though its in front of me.

  • Ten tries isn’t difficult when butt dialing.
