BWS 20% off All Slabs & Blocks of Beer until 30 Jan, VIC, NSW, SA, WA, TAS

150

I'm always on the lookout for cheap Kilkenny beer slabs and I saw that BWS has 20% off all beer slabs and blocks for the rest of January - all states bar NT (no BWS there) and FNQ (North of Maryborough - not sure why). Some beers may be cheaper from other retailers (I searched for VB can slabs and Carlton Draught stubby slabs and they were cheaper elsewhere) but I'm sure someone will find their beer of choice is cheaper at BWS during this sale - my Kilkenny is $61.40, down from $77. Cheers :)

Edit: Updated to reflect the states concerned. Sorry to QLDers, I swear I used the region changer earlier and when I set it to QLD it came up with the 20% off sale. :(

  • Decent deal - do they have an online catalogue where we can check pricing?

  • I use boozle.com.au to compare prices; far better than searching the sites manually.

    • but…… as I've often been told when visiting bottle shops…..quite inaccurate

      • Interesting, I've never had an issue with boozle and its accuracy. Call before you go anyway ?

        • +1

I would definitely recommend doing that….in at least 2 establishments, I've had staff roll their eyes and say "don't believe anything that is on boozle", (and not about competitors either….they were annoyed because instore was cheaper than boozle had quoted)

Dan Murphy's will beat any BWS price. Might not beat it by much, but handy if there is no BSW near you. I work at Dan Murphy's and we were checking out the prices on the system, the everyday beer (ted's, new, VB etc) are already cheaper than BWS even with the 20%, but most of the less popular beer (crafts and imports) are cheaper with the 20% off at BSW but Danies will not automatically 'beat'it unless you say something at the counter. Danies will only price match if BSW carries it.

A good buy is Oettinger, German version of VB, fully imported, full strength, about 25 bucks a case after price match. Not the best beer, but a buck a bottle…

Don't forget wollies staff, you also got your 5% discount from BWS on top of the 20% ;)

      .

    • In reply to the Oettinger comment; I used to drink Amsterdam Mariner 500mL cans from Dan Murphy because they were dirt cheap, $22 a slab from memory (6 years ago). They were massively unpopular - but not any more, and the current price ~ $36 reflects that. Not too bad for the money, still.

  • I thought BWS was another chain under Dan Murphys/Woolworths but they are quite a bit more expensive.

  • +2

BWS and Dan Murphys are both owned by Woolworths.

Dan Murphys are their bulk cellar stores which will beat any advertised price.

BWS has more stores which are also drive-thrus, which Dan is not.

So, if you want the convenience of staying in your car and having a closer store (generally) then you have to pay for it.

  • Ah okay. I don't have a BWS near me it is all Liquorland and Vintage cellars. I got to drive 15-20 minutes to Dan Murphy which is in the shopping centre. The local liquorland is drive through but you don't stay in your car you got to get out and choose what you want, never heard of staying in your car while they get your grog before.

  • Well that sucks, doesn't apply to north Queensland.. Don't understand why not.

  • not available in Brisbane due to the floods apparantly(any excuse!), so I dare say that means all of QLD lucks out…

  • oh btw.. RE: boozle.. i've used it prolly 50+ times and never found it to be inaccurate.. and as it's the liquor companies that supply the prices, if it is indeed inaccurate, they only have themselves to blame…

Does not apply to Brisbane. Sucks… They should have doubled the discount due to the floods (to cheer up the masses)

Maybe you should of just aired on the side of caution and not posted a negative vote with a comment like that. Alcohol is a low priority to someone that lost their home and or possessions

  • Thanks TonyP - Little Creatures at 20% off makes it just about affordable! Have taken advantage.

    • Thanks back robs12 - 15 comments in and you're the first comment thanking me.

  • Thanks for the heads up, I got a case of james squire from a dan murphy's in sydney for $48.50, normally $54.99.

  • squires is bloody expensive but usally i can get it on sale for $39-$45 at Bayfields and i think their regular price is $49
