Have been eyeing this one and seems like a good deal (for a limited time)…

Says it comes with CN plug. Also need to load google app store apk separately.

Deal says out of stock on my mobile, but in stock on PC - go figure.

As per following website, china version seems to support Band 28 as well:

has band 28 and because it shipped with oreo on release is also treble compliment which not all android one phones are ( mostly ones released with nougat like xiaomi A1 aren’t)

so what is the difference between this and and australian models, does china have its own software version or you just factory reset , localise and pick australia ?

because nfc, band 28 , android one and treble compliance it was one of the phones on my shopping list ….

    • I think it comes with Android One regardless, but you might have to load the app store apk via usb (because China has banned Google). Other than that i don't see anything different.

Also this is a good price. I really hope Nokia unlocks the bootloader for this sometime soon, such a great phone that has a lot of potential (and supports Treble!) and can be done a lot with Bootloader unlocked.

  • This is not expired, still available, bought the 6GB version which is only available in mainland China.
I don't see any difference in hardware between this and and Australian models, except someone mentioned that the Australian models only support single sim?
For some reason, the price for Nokia 7 plus is cheaper in mainland China than in Hongkong and Taiwan

    • thanks - updated posting. i based the expiry timer on the original flash deal timer they had.

also am not sure what the hardware differences are - on paper it looks the same. I guess i'll find out when it comes.

Is it worth upgrading to the 6GB version?

      • For the sake of future-proofing, you can't go wrong with 6GB of RAM.

        • how often do you buy new phones? future proof? what if battery dies?

        • @Jamesx: My current phone is 4 years old (One plus One). None removable battery mostly just means it takes 10minutes not 30 seconds to replace.

        • Can’t see any phone is future proof
Why people think things are future proof?

4GB is probably fine since it comes with Android One, Android system usually slow down over time, but it may be different for Android One?

        • it’s like windows PC , slows down not so much because of OS upgrades but old apps that didn’t uninstall completely ( always seem to leave a trail, incase you decide to reinstall) or apps you forgot about …

always good to do a backup and just reinstall what you want app wise ….

with treble, supposedly support might be more than 2 years , as it’s will be the abstraction layer gooogle use moving forward to allow new hardware to use android one.

not all android one phones were released with treble compliance, only ones that were released with oreo and few manufactuers have retrofitted treble code …. my xiaomi A1 missed out …. typical xiaomi obsolescence.

  • also I don't think it is necessary to root and flash to global version as OP suggested, all you need is to download the Google Play apk and install.

    • I don't think rooting is possible regardless. Unless anything has changed recently Nokia or HMD Global doesn't allow bootloader unlocking.

      • thanks updated post - for some reason it's highlighted on the joybuy website under the "specification" section to root and flash to global version.

      • idea of android one is to tighten security and google to patch …. allowing phones to be easily rooted would defeat the purpose of android one and that is for google to look after software ensure a secure handset, and hardware vendors to focus on hardware …..

        • And yet, other Android One devices can easily be rooted (the A1, for example).

  • Beware, I have seen different versions on eBay and there are some that are missing band 28, including some 6gb variants. I can't see the exact model number on their website.

    • From the Q&A section, model number is TA-1062

    • the model no is TA-1062, and it has B28

      • Awesome, thanks!

  • FYI, when browsing on mobile it says no stock for either, but on a desktop I was able to place an order!

  • cheapest AU stock seems to be $480 ….. so trade offs would be delivery times and AU charger and warranty or $100 saving.

    • $480 still imported (from HK), the cheapest AU stock was probably $550 from the JB sale

      • There are imported (HK) on eBay for $450 with stock in Australia so delivery within a week or less. This is with pull5 code.

Or even cheaper at $435 from TW, or $440 from HK with bonus 64Gb Kingston SD card.

        • Can you share the link with the bonus 64Gb?

    • The AU stock is single SIM which is a deal breaker for many.

  • Thanks Op bought 6gb version.
For first time buyers (like me) there is an additional US$5 off the price

  • I ordered then cancelled (hopefully they refund my PayPal quickly). Not 100% sure this can be flashed to non-china firmware without jumping through lots of hoops. There is a post on XDA about converting it but not going to take the risk.

  • The prices in China from JD is ~$400, if anyone bought enough 20% Catch gift cards with Woollie GCs, could have the phone from Catch for $361 ish. or less if you can get your GCs at 7.5% or less…

The jb one is single sim. This is dual sim as well.

  • For the money this seems like not a bad phone… I have a LG G4 and I hate it. Wonder if this is worth the upgrade.

  • Has anybody ever bought from that website before?

    • Yes, excellent.
It's the English version of a massive Chinese "Amazon" equivalent, JD.com
They even ship stuff in ludicrously big boxes with lots of packing just like Amazon!

  • lower price (US$ 273) today

    • I just searched for it in my browser on the phone and was presented with an install link.

  • For delivery times, we bought this phone on OP post date (07/06/18).
It arrived in metro Melbourne on 22/06/18.
Works well, nil issues so far. Very happy with it for the price! Thanks OP!!

    • 4GB/6GB?

  • Back in stock and cheaper? No fast shipping kills it for me though.
