Saw this deal while looking through ple for some ram after having serious regrets not getting some this morning from the 20% off deal and I thought it was a decent price for quality and speed, also size.

I've tried to research it and I haven't seen a huge difference between the two

That is slow, and quite a problem for Ryzen CPU which relies a lot on memory speed for performance. For reference my budget Corsair Vengeance 3200Mhz is CL16, and it's budget btw not Corsair Dominator or RGB, it was basically the cheapest 2 sticks of 3200Mhz back in 2016. A friend has Corsair Dominator and he managed to OC 4 stick to 3200Mhz CL12.

Funny how my cheapest RAM back in 2016 turns into premium in 2018.

    • wait still you see DDR5 cas latency

      • Isn't this still a decent deal? It can't be that bad, I know you can set custom timngs and most likely get the timings to around cl 16…

        • can't comment coz this isn't what i'm after

i need 3000mhz or more + dual channel for ryzen build,
so after 2 sticks but 32gb is too much of a waste

        • @phunkydude: So this would be bad then? For ryzen?

        • @Lockster:

if only getting 1 stick 2666 single channel is bad for ryzen, and i don't think it'll run on 1X00 series

        • @phunkydude: Damn didn't think this would be that bad… 8gb 2133mhz onky costs only $60 less

      • prelim cas was like 260-?-?-? but that's a preliminary test thingo, not the final meme

  • dang it , i knew i needed something else , just didn't pop into my head during the 20% sale

  • $330 for a 32GB system seems like a good deal to me. C19 should be fine, I'm not up on the ram timings anymore but unless you know you need lower latency RAM for a specific purpose I doubt this would be noticeable slower for the rest of us.

$660 for a 64GB setup is less than half the price of the cheapest kits (though also superior sticks to be fair)
