Must be installed by an electrician

    where's the instructions for them?

      Step one: Unwrap from box
Step two: Insert plug into plug base socket

Hub required? I have four lifx bulbs and have been waiting for a deal on their downlights - which never seems to come. Time to jump ship… I just hate the idea of extra hubs (can I use an existing ZigBee station I have built into a router?)

    • Yeah I was a kickstarter backed of Lifx and they have been great. But the lack of downlights has pushed me over to Smart Things hub and zigbee based down lights (MR16) they have been great so far.

    • Does this have to connect to the Hue hub? Can this downlight connect to Logitech Harmony hub or router directly like Lifx????? It is so stupid to have an extra hub around.

  • for you to Energize

    @Scotty will like this one

  • Bear in mind that this downlight from Amazon does not come with AU Plug. If you want a little convenience and don't mind paying a little more, Lectory has one that comes with AU plug, https://www.lectory.com.au/Philips-Hue-LED-9W-Downlight-Whit…

    • What plug do they come with? Or they don't/just have wires?

      • +1

Most downlight kits come with a flex and plug. These can be plugged into any standard socket, though you would generally use a plug base to connect these in ceiling. Advantage being you can replace them yourself later on without requiring an electrician once they have been installed.

        • Yes indeed. Was more asking cloudie9 what these ones come with if they didn't have AU plugs.

@Romen: I’ve bought a bunch of these and they have a separate controller box with screw in terminals for the power active/neutral.

        • @drmac: ahh excellent. Thankyou :)

        • @drmac: Excuse my ignorance here, but my current ceiling downlights plug into a standard power socket. Will these work the same, or they require additional cabling?

Just received mine today from Lectory. It comes with the AU plugs as advertised and the transformer came with it is factory Philips brand.

        • Well, as Lectory advertise they have AU plugs, that makes sense? The initial comment was referring to Amazon and what they had attached, which drmac answered.

      That is 50% more expensive.

  • Given you are installing at frontdoor, when do you propose switching it to red ?

    • never coz this isn't RGB?

    • This is just warm white / cool white, but get yourself a standard Hue and Halloween? Every Friday the 13th?

Green on St Patty's day, Chrismas flickers during Xmas, Grey if you celebrate Festivus like the rest of us.

Use this library for RGB conversion too!

  • These downlights require a 125mm hole. Do Philips make any Hue downlights that will fit a 90mm hole?
