I was after a bluetooth speaker. Was tossing up between the Flip 4 (going for around $98 at the moment) and UE Boom 2. Consistently got good reviews for the Boom 2 from friends and shop staff, so that was my preference - so was hoping they would be discounted to match the Flip 4, but no one had that I had found.

Was standing in JB looking at their specials, and asked shop staff for best they could do - came back with $5 off the current special of $149. So I jumped on StaticIce, and saw E-Global had knocked them down to $93 plus postage (around $20).

Thanks for posting! If you don't have a colour preference, you can also get grey stock, slightly cheaper at eBay using TA's personal eBay coupon (Red/Blue).

    Great price!!!

  • UE Boom 2 - way better app, nicer design.
JBL flip 4 - possibly better sound, smaller, material feels cheaper.

Re "JBL Connect" feature - I've never managed to link up more than two. The website states "link more than 100 speakers", which I find bullshit given my JBL Charge 3 experience.

These are also Grey Imports FYI:

Q: Can we claim tax by the invoice?
A: Unfortunately as our products are grey-imported goods, we are unable to provide any tax invoice for tax claim.

Q: How does the warranty work?
A: As products are being imported from overseas, the Original Warranty may not work with your local dealer but eGlobaL does cover your item with our own warranty up to 24 months warranty as good as the Original Warranty.

  • Fantastic little speaker these, with big, good quality sound. Fantastic battery life too. Have been using mine practically every day now for over a year, no issues and is so easy to use.

You'll be able to get Office Works to beat JB Hi Fi by 5% for $137. So eGlobal for $113 grey import with their questionable customer service, send back to Hong Kong for warranty and having to wait for Hong Kong delivery versus Office Works for local in store warranty for $137. I'd rather pay the extra $24. That's where I'm going tomorrow.

      Ditto.

If you want dramas in your life, otherwise stay away from eglobal.

    • Both officeworks and JB are currently showing $149. Was JB $144 at some point?

I bought this black one with case a couple days ago for $123.55 (using 20% voucher & after CR) through eglobal eBay.

  • This or JBL charge 3?

JBL Charge 3 and Sony XB30 both sound significantly better than these for the discerning listener, and can be had for similar money. If you just want loud, with good battery and ruggedness for outdoor use, these will do the job, but you will not impress anyone with a good ear.

Might pay extra bit and get charge 3. Thank you for the advice

I was initially thinking to buy UE boom, when you actually test it, you will find it does lack bass, the same price get the Charge 3; it is louder and more bass and sounds better.

I had a horrible experience with Megaboom not charging the battery (even with 2 times exchange), however last year when I bought the roll 2 it didn't come with any issues, I think it might be just me that was so unlucky with the megaboom which had the firmware issues. I am just waiting for the Xtreme for sale in the future.

          Hope it helps.
