20% off Your First Order of Dental Cover at Smile.com.au

Had to find a new dentist as I moved cities 6 months ago. New dentists have an advertisement that I can save money on my dental bill by joining smile.com.au - they apparently allow discounted dentistry at a lot of locations nationwide. So as I don't have private health insurance, I'm going to sign up ready for my appointment in two weeks time.

Found the code at "thebargainavenue" - there's no stated expiration date, and it worked for me today. Two year cover for a couple originally $152, and after 20% off it is $121.60.

  • Has anyone done the maths on this to see if its cheaper then a regular dentist that offers a reasonable price?

    • It honestly depends on how much dental work you get done - I needed a few crowns done so the saving was reasonably significant. If you're just going for a scale and check up then yeah - it's probably not worth it.

  • There is also a refer-a-friend program, which gives 20% off and the referrer gets 3 months free. However, I don't think it stacks, as I tried a 10% and 20% code and it only applied the higher discount. From the website:

We want to make sure everyone can have a beautiful, healthy smile for life. Help us in our mission by referring your family and friends to smile.com.au and we’ll give you three free months of dental cover for every new membership that joins using your code. Plus, your family and friends will get 20% off their first year of dental cover! That’ll keep everyone smiling!

  • 20% no fixed price so could be whatever price

  • If you stay on their page for a few minutes before signing up, they might give you an extra discount. A small window will popup saying join now and get $10 off (or something like that, don't remember)

I got offered 10% off, and when I went through the checkout they automatically applied the code for 10% off. When I used the 20% code it just replaced the previous code (no stacking).

Was with them for a bit but considering dentists have so many item codes, and you don't actually know what you need until you go there, the discount, if any, is small. I did not notice any difference when I had it vs I cancelled it. Just my experience

  • TBH, they quite useless.

Price listed on the smile.com.au not really lower than you expected.

Most of items listed on the site even higher than my local dentist’s price.

  • WOW, just had a look at there price list, their prices are 10%-30% higher than my dentist's fees.
So think it through before you join in.
