Hi Ozbargainers.

I just bought my daughter's first school photos, and I paid $90 AUD!
I mean WTF?!

Fair enough I didn't have to buy the whole package, (it's her first ever school pics, I didn't want to miss one single photo)

But in all seriousness, how the explicit can they charge us these prices?

the pack was $60 AUD + 30 AUD for the USB with 5 extra photo!

SERIOUSLY?

I know I'm a sucker for buying it, I should probably be kicked from this page, but I just had to.

What do you guys normally pay for your kids school pics?

    yeah, we normally go for the class plus single largeish print. $38 for my oldest today.

    Yep - school photos are one of the biggest rorts going today.
    If the ACCC isn't too busy hitting the banks and petrol companies with a soggy lettuce leaf they should look into that scam.

    Never bought any school photos. They were ~$50 back in my days. I kept the tiny little sample photos they gave every year though. I was an Ozb from young.

    Get the class picture and the 1 portrait 1. Scan them and print off for friends and family.

    I'm pretty sure they only take 2 photos: Group + individual portrait. All the others are just different sized reprints of these two…

    We pay about $45 / yr for school photos and downloadable good quality image

    Do you have other options rather than the $90 one?

    I haven't bought a single school photo since the kids were very young (they are now year 9 and 12). I do have a nice collection of the free photo bookmarks they send out after the first print of photos are distributed.
    They use the portrait photos for the kids profiles (on the school site) and I'm always glad I never paid to have a print copy. My boys are pretty photogenic usually but for some reason their school photo always looks like a mug shot. My eldest looks like a serial killer in his last one.

    The prices at my kids school are way over the top too.

    For just a class room photo is about $45 with nothing else. And it's not even a "whole class shot"

    It's just portrait shots of each kid from the class in a separate box.
