If you're not sure about the details of the post, then please use the report button in this deal and the mods/power users will amend the post accordingly. Not a valid reason for a neg, neither is the reason that it's going to expire soon

    Enjoy people.

  • Do they have the normal s9 on sale too aus stock or just the s9+?

  • +1

The Exynos (G965FD) model is cheaper @ $932/956/1148 (purple only for 256gb).

You can also get a 256gb au stock for $1196.10 with PICKY10 code. TRS will bring that down to $1075.28. Samsung AU warranty but single sim.

    • +1

Sorry is the op deal not au stock?

      • Thats what i was wondering

      • It most certainly isn't. The Snapdragon models are not intended for the Australian market. AFAIK, only the Exynos variants support some level of development. Also, getting Samsung Pay to work here might be an issue as the XSA (Australian firmware) can only be flashed on the Exynos variants.

        HTH

  • Does amaysim provide invoice for TRS purpose?

    • Grey Import = No GST = No TRS

  • Coming as a person who considers to move from Apple to Samsung, what’s the deal with different chipset in Samsung s9, (exynoz, Qualcomm), and also GPU that op has mentioned, is there any chipset that we should avoid when buying Samsung s9?
    Thanks

Well, The model of the S9 and S9+ for the US, Japan, China, and Latin America uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and the model for Europe and Australia uses the Samsung designed Exynos 9810.

The Exynos has four Samsung designed "Big" CPU cores (the M3), four ARM Cortex A55 "Little" CPU cores, and an ARM Mail GPU, while the Snapdragon has four Qualcomm Kryo 385 Gold (a Qualcomm modified variant of the ARM Cortex A75) "Big" CPU cores, four Qualcomm Kryo 385 Sliver (a Qualcomm modified variant of the ARM Cortex A55) "little" CPU cores and a Qualcomm Adreno GPU.

The thing with the Exynos is that not only is the ARM Mail GPU much worse than the Adreno in the 845, but although the M3 scores much higher in one (clearly flawed) benchmark (Geekbench 4), in other benchmarks the 845's Kryo 385 Gold is much faster and users have also reported it to feel faster when running apps and to top it off the 845 version also gets much better battery life.

Some of these problems have been found to be software choices (Kernel power governor and the like) Samsung made that can be helped by installing a custom Kernel. But even with a custom Kernel your gains are still limited to much less performance and battery life vs the 845.

      • Whilst I agree with above, I have been told from an Samsung employee that the snapdragon one doesn't work very well in Australia with our networks

        • Samsung logic?

        • The version being sold by Amaysim should work, it seems to support all the bands used in Aus.

  • Does it come with 24 months Samsung warranty?

    • No.
