Lost Item, Purchased from GeekBuying

Bought Ramsta S600 480GB SATA SSD from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/382682

Tracking number: LH211493505CN
Send via Registered Airmail but no insurance.

I asked Australia post office to help and find the item but no success at the end. The GeekBuying support line is asking me to get them some kind of official document with stamp, that the item has been lost. I asked the Australian post office they told me to get back to the seller, that only they can open the case.

I paid with 28 degrees credit card, I don't think I have any special insurance cover with that. I remember they are trying to sell that option to me sometime ago. Do I still have a chance to do a chargeback by any chance and what is the process for that?

As the GeekBuying rep, you can actually contact me about it. Enable private messaging and PM me with your order number and I can have it escalated.

Looking at your tracking it seems that it updated again after you had lodged your enquiry. There is a chance that it is still in transit unless Auspost are adamant that it's lost.

What GeekBuying CS are wanting is a letterhead from Auspost saying that the order is lost in transit. Auspost staff are normally happy to type this up (literally a few lines) and email it to you. I've had it done several times in the past for other Chinese sellers.

    • I'd give geek a chance now after reading this, usually avoid those sort of deals after afew burnt me.

      • All we are saying is give geek a chance

        (Apologies to John Lennon)

    • Thank you for trying to help, very much appreciated! How can I PM you?

      My order Number: #4548050

Yes I've lodged the enquiry and have been in contact with Australian Post. They have tried to find it but, with no success.

As you can see even through Aus. post tracking system (https://auspost.com.au/), for almost a month there has not been any more scans.

Here is last email from Australian Post:

Thanks for reaching out so we can chase the delivery of this international parcel you've been trying to track. Given it was due to arrive some time ago, I definitely understand your concern. My name is Hannah and it would be my pleasure to help you out today.

I have checked your parcel in our system and it appears the last update we can see is when this parcel was sorted through our facility on May 20th. I would have expected it to have been delivered by now so, though it has arrived into Australia, we'll need the sender to get in touch with China Post to launch an investigation into the whereabouts of this article.

China Post is required to initiate the investigate under the terms of the Universal Postal Union as, in the event the parcel is not delivered, compensation can only be paid to the sender by their local postal authority. Rest assured, they will liaise with us through the proper channels for more information on the whereabouts of your item.

I understand time was not on our side here, so remember that should you ever have any time critical questions or any other enquiries, you can take advantage of our social media accounts on Facebook or Twitter. These sites have a dedicated team who can handle any queries or action any issues you might have. You can chat with our friendly staff by visiting: http://www.facebook.com/australiapost https://twitter.com/auspost.

I suggest getting in touch with the sender so they can contact China Post as soon as possible. If you have any other concerns at all, please let us know. We're always here to help out.

      Regards,

      Hannah

You can click on someone's username and it will have Start a Conversation.

I'll pass it all onto GeekBuying.

  • Wow… the above post:

'As the GeekBuying rep, you can actually contact me about it… (etc.)'

… is pretty amazing! Great customer service. If only all businesses operated like that (or even the majority…).
