  • Delivery is super fast. Delivered day before for me in 5 days flat.

    • Should I chose to pay in AUD or EUR with my Amex??

  • Just had a look. Says "This item does not ship to Australia".

    • +1

It does just add to cart

      • Oh OK Thanks.

  • +3

Been around this price for months…really want one before GST and Amazon blocks but not sure if I can justify to wife…lol

    • +2

dishes for a week should do the trick.. I suppose.

    • +2

I reckon just do it and switch it with your existing receiver while she's out in the hope it's not noticed for months - to which you can then exclaim, 'oh, that old thing'…

      • +4

amen. I did that for mine.
Found receiver that normally sells for around 1k second hand going for $300. I had to grab it before i could discuss

        • Sometimes you just gotta do that. No regrets!

      • The old "switcheroo"! Always works!

        • +5

Alternatively, try the switcheroo with the wife. ;-)

  • Can someone please advice if this will work well with something like this: NS50F http://www.hifi-review.com/151013-yamaha-ns-50f.html.
Planning to get couple of them only to start with, planning to add subwoofer and rear speakers later on (after a few months). Is this plan workable? Thank you.

    • +1

Can't see why not this can't drive those speakers

    • +1

I don't see why those speakers wouldn't work! They look pretty standard to me.

  • +1

Fantastic amp. Big improvement on my old Yamaha and shipping was quick too.

    • What was your old Yammy?

      I'm still using the RX-V 3800. :)

  • Does volume overlay work when using 4K HDR (not dolby vision)?

    • No, that will be 2018 models.

I use my ears to tell how loud it is instead.

      • Or you could actually just look at the front of the unit for the volume… :P

Personally I turn off the OSD etc. on receivers, as having it on means it needs to do video processing which adds to input lag for gaming.

        • This is not how things work.

    • I've got an x2300w and I found out the hard way that 4k OSD was only available in the x3300 and onwards for that year, might be the same?

      • -1

It will display the menu 4K@30Hz. It's only at 60Hz or 60fps it will downgrade the picture to 1080p while the menu is shown.

  • -6

Does it come with speakers ? I need dem speakers.

    • get speakers from hard waste collection …. people always putting out on kerb when moving house in St Kilda as apartments are getting smaller.

Some people can't be bothered with the Gumtree low-ballers and tyre kickers.

    • +4

I think it comes with 75” TV too :)

  • +1

I bought this model in the last OZB deal and 100% recommend it. Excellent value for money IMO

    • -8

      Doesnt come with speakers tho

  • Waiting for x3400 deal missed last time, bought Klipsch speakers from amazon US will wattage of x2400 will be sufficient

    • +1

Hey I grabbed the x3400 last deal and now looking for Klipsch speakers. Care to detail which speakers you purchased?

Alternatively we can just hang out, I'll bring the amp if you bring the speakers?

      • +1

Amazon US bought R 25C and Rp 240s for cost me around AUD 1040 deleivred now, still looking for subwoofer and floorstanding

    • +1

      Yes… more than enough.

      • The last deal on amazon.de for the X3400H was for $860 delivered. Was umming and ahing and missed out :-(

      • I am planing to buy Klipsch R12SW subwoofer RMS200W and peak 400W will X2400 will be enough for it cause its says in spec 95W for 8 ohms speakers

what that means i have no idea

        • +2

The sub has its own amp and is not powered by the amp.

        • That's a good sub.

I have the 15" older version SW115 and it hammers.

          Cheers

Just a heads up, Audiotrends have the X2400 on special for $999 if you prefer to buy locally. Need to use the coupon code 'Denon2400' after you add it to your cart.

    https://www.audiotrends.com.au/more/huge-stocktake-sale/deno…

    • +1

      any code for x3400

      • Not that I saw unfortunately.

  • There is guy on eBay and gumtree selling European amp stock (most probably Amazon Germany stock), according to his warranty details 12 months Australian warranty is provided on these Denon amps.

  • How does this compare to the Marantz 5.2 Channel 4 K Network A/V Receiver from same seller?

  • So tempted by this. Would it be worth upgrading from a Denon 1612 (about 7 years old) to this if I don't have a 4K TV or overhead speakers for Dolby Atmos / DTS:X ? Currently have a pretty mid level 1080p Panny Plasma and Paradigm Series 7 speaker package.

    • I just went from a 1912 to the x1400.
      My thoughts:

      BAD
The remote with the new one is less capable - for instance it doesn’t have controls for tv power

Pro Logic II has been replaced with Dolby Surround. Sometimes I like to upmix stereo music to surround and with the 1912 I could set Dolby Prologic II Music to put the center channel into the front main speakers. Then when I switch to Movie it would undo that change and have the Center channel acting normally. With the new one - the center channel preference is shared between movie mode and music - meaning that I have to change that centre speaker surround parameter back myself when watching a 2 channel movie source (such as some TV) - and it’s fiddly to do. Takes a few steps through the menu. I’ve tried programming my harmony ultimate to no avail…

      GOOD
The x1400 actually has the same DAC as the the 2016 Denon Flagship - I much prefer the sound from this compared to the 1912

Spotify connect is a godsend compared to airplay

      Wifi and Bluetooth

HDMI on front - makes it easy to plug in laptop or whatever temporarily

For me the upgrade is worth it :) and I ain’t 4K until they can make band-free oled

  • What do I do about the power plug?
I haven't bought something like this from overseas before, but very keen as my receiver died recently.
    Thanks everyone.

    • +1

It looks like it takes a standard IEC C13 cable (standard computer cable) and 230V/50Hz (same as Australia) so you will either need an adapter to use the cable provided or find/buy an IEC cable.

    • It'll be a three pin "kettle" plug which you can just replace with an Australian version or use an adaptor.

    • +1

Go to Msy, it's a standard computer power cable.

    • Get this $5.80 power lead from Bunnings.
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/jackson-1-2m-replacement-iec-pow…

  • I'm tempted also - would be upgrading from a Marantz slimline - which I presently have in an entertainment unit and use some nifty usb fans to keep the air moving. I've got more height capability in there, but don't want to make things too tight!

The more modern features of this one, including Atmos, is appealing though. Before my marantz days, I was a Denon-dude!

  • Hi guys,
If you were to buy one, what do you do with old Amp/Receiver if you have one?

I am asking as I have quite a > decade old Denon AVC-A1 and it still does what it does, although lacking quite a number of codecs.

    Cheers

    • +1

The question is, what do you want to buy the new one for?
HT? Video Passthrough, Wireless functions … etc?

      That old Denon is awesome.

If you have a 4k TV, you can use the TV Toslink out to optical in to your old Denon. However I think it is limited to 2.1 Channel.

      Cheers

      • Was into HT a fair bit in the old days and that thing did set me back > 2k at the time.
Yes may as well stick with it.

        Cheers

  • What are your thoughts about how this compares to the Sony STR DN1080?

    • People seem to say that the Sony is almost as good. The speaker correction is supposed to be better on the Denon

    • Sony is better but the firmware is not stable. Doing some research will help you, especially comments in amazon us

    • +4

Choice! Not sure whether to snap this up, go the Sony, or stick with the slimline range I've been happy with and aim for a Marantz NR1608…

Last time I picked up a receiver, I'd actually just gone out to buy a loaf of bread and came home with the Marantz NR1601 (and bread).

  • Will I see any speaker performance changes from Yamaha amp to this Denon amp? My Yamaha amp is like close to 8 years old and still going fine (touchwood). I pair my Yamaha with Bose Acoustimass 6 Series III speakers, the smaller cubes ones and to be honest, they are not as loud as I would have thought. Not sure if the upgrade to this Denon would made a difference?

    • How many watts per channel is your current amp?

When you crank the volume, do you hit the maximum of the amp, or do the speakers start distorting because they're travelling too far?
(Also if your amp has some kind of "clipping" indicator that would be helpful to diagnose the problem too…)

If you're maxxing out your current amp and everything sounds fine, just not loud enough, and your current amp has less power than this one, then yes, buying this will help. Otherwise no, your speakers are the problem.

      • It is Yamaha RX-V665 and according to the specs, it is 90W per channel. Yeah that is the exact problem I had, I have to max out the sound to in order to hear the sound but sound produced is fine though. So is it a worthy upgrade to this Denon?

        • +3

          In that situation, Yes.

  • I have a Denon 3808 that I bought in 2008. Was an expensive AMP at $3,500.

Would this newer but cheaper one be far superior, the 3808 has 150W per channel where as this one has 130W?

    • No. Your 3808 is superior.
This receiver is an entry level 7.2 channel.
Although it is a nice receiver and priced well (here), it will do the job.

Yours might compare to an equivalent X3400 and not X2400

      Cheers

    • Dupe - removed

      • cheers mate

    • It depends what your speakers can handle… If it's 8 ohm then you'll be looking around 90-110w per channel. 6ohm is 125-150w. This can do 4ohm but only in segments which will be capped at 150w max. Your receiver does 130w @ 8ohm but might not handle 4&6ohm in its proper capacity. Remember the ratings are a maximum depending on the speakers, audio content, speaker distance and other factors… Plus depends if you have a lot of content with Dolby Atmos or DTS-X in 4K. Otherwise no point in upgrading yet. Atmos isn't that big of a difference. Maybe one or two scenes per movie you'll hear the elevated speakers make an impact. But I'm sure it'll get better over time. This is definitely the best receiver under $1000.

  • Should I chose to pay in AUD or EUR with my Amex?? Is amazon currency conversion better or my Amex or VIZA better?

    • +2

use EUR currency even with credit card charges is cheaper. amazon currency is more.

  • Wow that's a ridiculously good price. Saw this model at BH Photo website from the US for $800 and thought that was a good deal.

  • Thinking about upgrading my soundbar and sub to this and a q acoustics speaker package. Anyone taken the plunge on this AVR? Just worried about warranty, but I guess with an invoice you would still have the manufacturer warranty?

    • -1

Doing some research there is a problem with this producing a 4k/60hz menu overlay which would annoying me, most of my movie viewing is 4k through an htpc on a LG OLED. Think I'll wait for a decent price on the 3400 or wait to see if this is fixed in the 2500

      • Do I really need the OSD while watching 4k content….so cheap so hard to resist

        • -1

4K@60hz there is only one movie available that does that! Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. So unless you're playing games at 60fps or watching a YouTube demo video there is no issue. Movies are 24fps. Plus users have said that even at 60Hz it changes the screen to 1080p when the menu comes on, then back to 4K when closed (with latest firmware update)

  • Ordered this and also got some yamaha speakers. Wondering which cables and connectors do I need?

  • I caved - was in the back of my mind - ridiculously cheap. Now just have to hope it gets into the country before the tax comes in on 1 July.

    • How long does amazon germany take to deliver

      • Not sure. Amazon US always takes ages, but a recent few orders from Amazon Japan were about a week or less via DHL.

I think this will also come via DHL so might be quick too.

Estimated delivery is end of June, first few days of July. Hopefully just a conservative estimate!

        • +2

The tax at the border does not change on 1 July. The new rule is to force sellers with more than $75000 sales per year to Australia to charge GST. If Amazon bills it before 31/6 it should be OK.

        • @amaris-aiya: thanks for the clarification. Good stuff.

  • I placed an order and a few hours later got an email from Amazon.de saying my account was hacked and they've cancelled order and locked my account. Wtf?
    Anyone else cop that ?

    • Did you enable 2 factor authentication?

      • No I didn't have 2fa on.

Do I have to or this will always happen ?

Sent them an email asking what's going on and I have been referred to a 'specialist department' for them to investigate.

        Frustrating

        • Probably enable 2fa for future reference. My credit has been charged so no problem for me.

    • Yeah, I go the same email yesterday. Did they resolve it for you yet?

  • Well, it was time to dive into HT so thanks OP.

    • +1

Amazon.de has good news on your current order:

We are pleased to inform you that the following goods can be shipped earlier than announced:

"Denon AVRX2400H 7.2 Surround AV Receiver (HEOS Integration, Dolby Vision Compatibility, Dolby Atmos, dtsX, WiFi, Bluetooth, Amazon Music, Spotify Connect, HDMI Inputs, 7 x 150W) Black"
      Expected delivery date: 25th July 2018 - 3rd August 2018
      New estimated delivery date: June 30, 2018 - July 05, 2018

      • When did you place your order? Mine went in on the weekend and, from memory, your new estimate delivery was the timeframe quoted when I placed my order. I haven't had a shipping notification yet.

        • Just before my first comment, about 00:30

  • Has anyone's order actually shipped?

    • Mine hasn't shipped.

Ended up putting my order in very early on the 18th after they canned my first one because they thought I was hacked.

Got a long estimate for delivery followed by the one others have got saying … Good news it was to ship early….

Says it was going to be despatched on the 18th but nothing yet

  • A good question as mine has not. The 28 Degrees Fraud team asked if it was me and it is not in bold on my transactions but looks like it is approved but not doing a 5 day shipment like previous buyers have experienced. I don't want all that digital, multichannel stuff but could not find a good stereo receiver that seemed as good a bargain

  • +1

Just received an email saying it is on its way and will arrive on June 28.

    • Good to hear that buying from that site is an option because the price is about half of what the regular price is here!

  • I got a despatch email last night. They are using Aramex

  • -1

Just saw on the Denon website the receivers which will be upgraded to E-ARC by a firmware update will only be the X3400h and upwards, which sucks! E-ARC will let you have lossless passthrough audio from your TV to receiver. For almost every TV the max HDMI ARC will do is Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1… Other than some LG OLEDs which will do Atmos passthrough but not DTS-X, Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master Audio. You also have to make sure your TV will be upgraded to E-ARC too. It seems it's not a HDMI 2.1 only feature.

  • Just bit the bullet and made the purchase! It's an upgrade from a decades old Sony STRDB795. I also have an XBox One X and LG UJ752T to hook up! Delivery says it will arrive sometime after 26 July though!

  • Just bought one yesterday. Within a few hours of completing the purchase, I got an email from Amazon to say my account had been locked and to upload verification evidence details before they will unlock it and process my order. Fingers crossed it all goes through.

  • Ordered on 17 and received it on 21 June (shipped with dhl). Paid 412.57 EUR with 28deg Mastercard - statement was charged -$645.62 AU.
