samsung with android 7 doesn’t allow the sd card to be used for application storage only data …… android 7 supported the feature but samsung disabled it as std …..so you need to google and tinker to enable or you are limited to 16gb of apps , and as much data as you can fit in the sd card.

otherwise great tablet for the money …i own one.

much nicer for content consumption than using at phone , and an option for android users who don’t want an ipad.

an option for people who want to load media onto an sd card isntead of being restricted to streaming

      • An option for people who want to play retro game emulators on flights with controllers.

        • 3ds better for that

        • @tomkun01: can't do dreamcast and n64 though. And PlayStation is hit and miss

        • @idonotknowwhy: what are the minimum specs to run 64 games? My laptop even struggles with 64

        • @tomkun01: I guess it depends on the game, the OS and the emulator. I run a lot of N64 games on a Raspberry Pi 3 which is pretty low spec'd (1.3ghz cpu, 1GB RAM) upscaled to either 1080p or 720p. This often requires a lot of per-rom configuration though.

I also used to run them on my Z4 Tablet with a Snapdragon 810 before I sold it.

If you're looking for more accurate emulation and a Wii U with homebrew, you can inject roms into existing N64 classic titles to make use of the official N64 emulator which Nintendo uses to run the N64 classics.

This was the only way I could accurately run Pokemon Stadium 1 for example.

    • The ad says its on version 6. Would you recommend keeping it on 6 then?

Thanks OP, looks like there's a stable LineageOS 14.1 ROM for it

    • thks, might flash mine ….great screen etc

    • Bought and LOS 14.1 installed. Son happily playing Demolition Derby 2:)

    • What does that add to the Tab A over stock ROM?

  • 2GB RAM seems too small now, minimum 3GB I would consider.

    • I have the same concern. Otherwise would've pulled the trigger

Maybe look at the Lenovo tab 4 Plus? imho it is a substantially better tablet for <$50 more ($279.20)
        - Better SoC (both octa A53 cores, but the Lenovo is clocked at 2ghz v Samsung is clocked at 1.6ghz)
        - 3GB RAM v 2GB RAM
        - has fingerprint sensor, USB C
        - higher quality build, is lighter and thinner
        - Stock Android v Touchwiz

        • Thanks heaps. I was about to go and pickup my ordered samsung tab A but have now cancelled the order and bought the Lenovo instead.

        • Thanks for this! Very helpful.

Awesome tablet, I have one. Use it to watch Netflix mainly. Perfect 1080p widescreen ratio for videos. Runs pretty zippy and for this price you can't go wrong.

  • bought one, used 20 min and factory reset done. will RETURN tomorrow. cant play 1080p video smoothly from youtube with 100mb NBN. same time no prob with samsung note8. pretty crap for 2018.

  • Mine works great. Sounds like you have a dud
