Car headrest LCD screen or similar

My baby goes nuts in the car unless they get to watch some baby videos.

I'd like to get a screen instead of holding the phone for them.

I'm open to suggestions like ghetto mounting a cheap tablet. I'm not open to suggestions about how to otherwise calm him.

Preference is for something that's designed to be a car specific screen with mounts.

Thanks!

  • https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-7-5-Portable-DVD-Player-Carry-… free postage. That was a quick look. I have another brand, old one with 2 screens and wireless headphones as kids older. Just about to use them on a trip to Canberra

How about something like the Lenovo 7 tab for $77 paired with This car mount thing

Or… Something like this deal from Optus and stream unlimited netflix and/or load up some kids shows

My choice would be the iPad just because it has a bigger screen and will be more future proof.

Jesus. How about you teach them boundaries from a young age?

    • They're babies

Spoken like someone with no kids

    • prayer isn't going to help. you need to teach them boundaries yourself.

  • Works OK until they reach the age that they can touch the screen… Then you're spending time stopped getting the video to play again :/

iPad from Optus is a pretty good deal - you're basically on a payment plan for the iPad with free data for 2 years. We picked some up for work last year at the same price.

I've got the ghetto tablet mount. If you've got an existing tablet then a $10 headrest bracket is a cheap & cheerful solution instead. Although sometimes converting filetypes to be compatible/play etc is also a big timesink… batching through Handbrake is your friend.

I'd go this option except use an Android tablet with support for USB otg. Use a thumb drive full of stuff and away you go :)

    • In the 2017 iPad I'm using, there's a 'Guided Access' to childproof it in settings

flip it on 3 presses of home button and there's even a toggle to disable touch,

can't think of the same thing built-in in android, 'pin windows' comes close, but there should be plenty of apps to do the same thing in android

There’s a reason the quality mounts cost more than the others, cheap mounts can be very dangerous in a crash.
