Is there a difference with different RAM brands?

All of them are named, well known brands, so should not be a big difference at all

Gskill & Corsair are best imo

  • Yeah these are all generally the same I would get the

    Or

    Because they are priced better.

Probably the G.SKILL because it comes out $1 cheaper and I see G.SKILL everywhere if it's not Corsair.

On further inspection the Patriot Memory has zero 1 egg reviews while the G.SKILL has one 1 egg review.

So to be safe I would go the Patriot Memory but having said that you still could get a bad one since there are only so few reviews.

Whichever way you go good luck and good night.

  • I have both brands in my current Intel system. That is 16 Gb Ram spread over 4 x 4 GB DDR3 Dimms using 2 G Skill 1366 and later adding 2 Corsair 1600 Dimms when upgrading to a new platform (Haswell from Sandy bridge)

The G Skill had a built in XMP profile that could run it as a 1600 speed without damage while the Corsair did not and was bought rated as 1600 speed

For that reason I always have preferred the G Skill as having a better product line
None have let me down in 4 plus years of use

Ram with LED's add about 20fps.

Sync them with your fan and case LEDs for another 10-15fps

For Mac, Corsair put in the most effort to ensure thorough compatibility testing. I've had problems with kingston mac ram and gskill mac ram before. Corsair has always been flawless. Crucial is Micron, who is a major memory chip manufacturer, so I would trust them well too.

  • If you're looking to keep your existing RAM and just adding more, try to find the exact model and part number of the existing RAM. There may be compatibility differences in mixing different brands/models of RAM.
