Looking for a brown mascara and/or good (pref cruelty+sulfate free?) shampoo that's good in this, but here's what I'm thinking of trying from this:

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/82116/Nude-by-Nature…
Supposedly good bb cream (I'm looking for a one that looks very much no-makeup, I heard very good about the Maybelline one but not on sale yet)

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/69998/Revlon-ColorSt…
Supposed Estee Lauder Double Wear dupe

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/81772/Nude-by-Nature…
One of the top three powder foundations according to my research (MAC Studio Fix Powder and Meow Cosmetics are the others)

I haven't used the Nude by Nature products but I have read good reviews for their natural mineral cover, good choice :)

As for Revlon colorstay, I've used both Estee Lauder Double Wear and Colorstay, I'd say the Estee Lauder has a better shade range and is easier to work with. Colorstay dries quickly so you have to work quickly. The texture is not quite as nice as the Double Wear.

As for shampoo, both OGX and A'kin are sulfate free. I've only tried OGX Brazillian Keratin and it was ok but not outstanding. The Argan Oil version may be better based on reviews.

I'm not expecting EL levels for half the price :P I have Maybelline FitMe and Superstay, and Colourpop coming on the way. And two samples of EL from your older post :)

Interesting, thank you, I will look in to those shampoos (shampi? shampopodes?)

If you're after a cheap foundation, have you considered The Ordinary's coverage foundation for $12.90? You can get it from adorebeauty.com.au or overseas online retailers.

        • @moocher: I have, yeah. I love TO skincare and I'm waiting for enough stuff to hit $25 on AdoreBeauty, then I'll buy it.

I had powder foundation in my OP since I wanted to try powder sometime, and BB since I want something people won't notice at school. (Here's where I got the idea), and brown mascara from the same thing

        • @moocher: purchased using Birdsnest shipster trial

        • @tf2manu994: BB cream is a very good idea, and convenient too as they usually contain sunscreen. I've only used a Maybelline one (South East Asia version) and it was very nice. I'm not sure how different the Australian version is.

          Enjoy your purchases!

        • @moocher: I heard good about the Maybelline (see link above), and I got a reply on Reddit saying the NbN BB is garbage. I ordered the Ordinary one (coverage, serum is OOS) since I got shipster from Birdsnest. I'll get the powder and revlon, and wait for a Maybelline sale (probably in a month). Hopefully same quality as SEA and NA version, else I can order on eBay.

          :)

        • @moocher: I normally still wear sunscreen under BB since it provides a tiny amount of coverage otherwise - you need 1/2tsp for your face and I don't cake that much bb on :P

Nice. hope you'll like the Ordinary coverage foundation. My friend who has both the serum and coverage prefers the coverage version. You can always add a bit of serum or facial oil to the coverage foundation on days you want to have lighter coverage.

I'll get the powder and revlon, and wait for a Maybelline sale (probably in a month).

Good plan. Maybelline is often 40-50% off, I'd wait it out too.

I think it's 1/4 tsp for your face according to labmuffin but yeah I agree, for best protection it's still better to use a dedicated sunscreen.

        • @moocher:

I hope I like it too! I know, same with most drugstore brands. Interesting, only a quarter teaspoon, thanks for letting me know!

What foundation does the almighty moocher use? ELDW?

        • @tf2manu994: Let me know how you go with the TO coverage foundation :)

I work from home so I don't actually wear foundation that much, but I took the Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh sample on holiday recently. It wasn't very effective in the hot and humid tropics, as with most make-up in those conditions… it kinda just melted off my face :/ But I did like it when I tried it here.

Before that I tried the TO serum foundation and really liked it. Before that it was Revlon Colorstay (bought at half price) which I personally found difficult to use and a bit cakey/flat - I never finished the bottle.

        • @moocher: I've got samples of ELDW SiP, I'll try for one of those later!

        • @tf2manu994: The stay-in-place version? That's high coverage and very good too.

        • @moocher: Too high coverage for me :) It'd be nice if I went somewhere that's not an all-boys school
