Treadmill Help

Hello fellow Ozbargainers,

Just a quick question for the fitness ones out there, where's the best place to buy myself an affordable yet reliable treadmill? Is it best to go to physical retail stores like Rebel or anyone have recommendations online?

Don’t. Soon enough it will just be an expensive ornament. Speaking from experience.

or an expensive coat hanger or a towel rack

      • Just realised that "hook" I always use to hang my jacket and backpack was in fact part of an elliptical trainer.

Hire one and see if use it?

Gumtree - best deals are from gyms which are closing down/relocating/upgrading their equipment.

Commercial-grade gym equipment is a HUGE step above consumer-grade for quality and reliability, and gyms can write it off as a business expense so they sell them for cheap.

We got ours at Rebel, brand new. Delivered and installed.

When the guy plugged it in, it started smoking. Obviously turned it off and said the fuse blew and would come back and replace the fuse under warranty. We contacted Rebel and said that was unacceptable, we brought a brand new item and it was dead on arrival, we want a brand new replacement, not a Franken-mill.

They agreed and had a new one delivered and installed, has been running smooth for the past year.

Sometimes I prefer to look past the discount offers and go for a reputable company to save the subsequent hassle. (will I get kicked out of ozbargain for saying this?)

I normally tell people to try Gumtree around March, people who gave themselves New Year resolutions to stay fit will buy these brand new and will use it about 10 times, virtually new. Maybe after winter also, runners buy these so they don't have to face the cold and since it is not cold anymore, they may sell it off?

  • Best new one I found was from fitquip. They were good with delivery and came to check out a squeaky belt straight away.

Found mine on the side of the road. Magnet had come loose in the motor so it made a grinding noise, hence tossed. Easy fix though.

As others have said people buy them, use them once and then sell them cheap on Gumtree. Same for bicycles.

  • We got ours from rebel..

Its the best clothes hanger when its raining and good for storing boxes on.
