Yeah they are projectors. It's a model of car that the xenon was an option, but an expensive one at the time.
Your car is not suitable for a xenon or LED conversion. It is not auto leveling, the light pattern is only suitable for the original light source (halogen), and therefore the conversion is illegal. Ignore the advice on that web page as it's solely for the UK market.

I just ordered some Phillips Xtreme-Vision H7. They're pretty good and last me a year.
Hmm i hope your wife's car has a projector headlight system if you are planning a xenon conversion kit.
Without a projector headlight system it will perform pretty much worse than a regular headlights (legal ones) due to light scatter and bad light patterns. At the same time you will be blinding other drivers when they drive past you.
Other than being a nuisance on the road and a hazard, HID Xenons usually run hotter, and can potentially cause damage to your headlight unit.
HID Xenon Conversion kits are technically not road legal unless the headlight unit is certified to use them.
