Recommend small BBQ for balcony

My sister and her hubby have recently bought an apartment with a decent sized balcony.

They love to bbq.

I want to get them a bbq as a house warming. My budget is $500

It would need to be the size of a Webber, that can hold a gas bottle in a concealed compartment. Wheels would be great, as would foldable side trays.

Besides Webber, I don’t know any other brands.

A weber baby q, they are great, very versatile, with lots of accessories. I've seen them in action cook up a storm for a bunch of people. A friend of mine had the more expensive one and did veggies and chicken drummies and garlic bread for about 10 people or so and it was great.

    • Could stretch it to a Q2000 going by the OP's post. If you want a concealed gas bottle, you'll want to grab the Weber Patio Cart over the Weber Portable Cart.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Q series don't come with wheels; you'll have to buy a cart

        Cool.

That’s where the Webber adds up in price pretty quickly.

Unit itself, plus wheels, plus cover

        • Echoing everyone else's sentiments, get a Weber Q.

Keep your eye out for deals - The Good Guys eBay store had a 20% off everything earlier this month. You could have had the Baby Q, cart, and full length cover for $392 after discount.

          That’s a ripper price!

        • looking at the baby q. It seems a tad too small, probably the Q or bigger.

Does the q have a flat grilling surface?

lol mines on a table with a bike lock.

I have the Baby Q and it's a good size. Easy enough to move around if needed, and I can roast a whole chicken in there. Perfect for two people.

Does the q have a flat grilling surface?

It doesn't come with one, just the grills. You can buy the flat plates to fit in where the grills are for extra.

    • Yep, I also think the Baby Q is good, my parents have one in their caravan when they are travelling around Australia, they cook most of their meals on it. Easy to cook on and very compact.

They can't speak highly enough of it.

  • I was looking into getting a small bbq. Haven't bought it yet but one that stood out to me was the lotusgrill. Perhaps someone else who has it would be able to further comment on it…

    • Charcol is probably not the most convenient option for a balcony.

  • Moving from a generic 4 burner bbq to a Weber Q2000 a couple years ago was one of the best moves i ever made. Grabbed it for around $300 with a combination of BCF storewide discount and entertainment book 10% off vouchers. I've added a few accessories over time during sales but the only major one was a wheeled trolley from Ikea which was more something i wanted, not needed.

Agree with everyone here. Webber Q

Get it on sale. (Also get the pizza stone becuase the pizzas are excellent)

  • What accessories come with the baby q and family q?
Or is it a typical situation where everything is an “extra”?

    • Family Q comes with a cart by default but it's way over $500. Everything is an extra
