A lot of people already ported away from their last promo to Kogan 1 year plan.

    • +1

I held out, the Kogan 1 year plan is way too expensive.

      This is nearly free.

      • After my last Amaysim promo deal expired I couldn't wait for them to have another deal and ported to Kogan.

  • Excess Data $10/GB

    • +2

      Kind of https://www.amaysim.com.au/help/mobile/plans-and-network/wha… states:

The UNLIMITED 1GB and UNLIMITED 2.5GB plans will not be switched to the casual data rate if you run out of data. In these instances you'll need to wait until your plan has renewed, or add a data top-up in order to continue using data.

So it isn't that there is excess data charges, but rather to keep using data you need to buy 1GB top ups at $10 each or wait until the next 28 day period.

Using maths this deal is $1.00 cheaper.

      • dont forget cashrewards

      • Thanks for clearing that up:-)

Damn got mine $9.95 just yesterday. feel a little cheated

    • I forgot to add the code just now, lost $2.

    excellent.

been waiting for this a long time.

  • Girlfriend gets no signal (SMS and calls barely come in properly on her phone) on Amaysim at our new place.

Never been a problem til now. She has to make a call or SMS before any new messages/phone calls come through. Anyone know the problem? Her signal is strong.

What's easiest way to port out and back in again? I want to test with another provider and then maybe come back to this 6 months.

    • Have you tested her sim in another phone?

      • I have Amaysim too, works perfectly. My phone is a little bit newer.

        • Checked supported bands on her phone?

        • @ozoner: It wouldn't have worked before though? It was working well for several months.

  • I bought one as a gift and all the recipient got was an email that included an attachment with the voucher code.

How does Groupon know where to send the SIM if they don't ask for an address?

    • +1

Groupon doesn't care. You use this to buy with Amaysim.

Groupon does nothing but buy a coupon for 100% coverage of the costs at 50% or so the sale price.

      • Oh I see now. Thanks!

  • Any tricks to utilize existing AMAYSIM Number, easier provider to port in & out quickly ?

    • The problem is that you elect to keep your number at the same time that you order the SIM (with the Groupon code), which takes at least 2 days or many more, according to the website.

Since my Amaysim month just ended I thought this was a good opportunity for me to try ALDI to test a wholesale Telstra service at my house. Turns out just as bad reception as Optus! The starter pack is $5 with $5 credit but at least SMSs and calls are affordable (e.g. 12 cent SMS) while you wait. The main benefit is the porting only takes a couple of minutes after leaving a store (as opposed to the 5 days it took me to port from Ovo to Amaysim AFTER waiting for a SIM…). But now I basically have no affordable data (compare this with a 23 GB or whatever starter Kogan SIM I could have bought for the same price).

Amaysim didn't close my login so I don't know if I'm a "new" customer? Though it let me purchase using the Groupon code.

  • how do you get the contact number
to support looked everywhere on their webpage

    • +1

My experience with their online chat has always been good.

  • Can anyone confirm if you could get a $2 sim and apply the groupon code during activation?

    • I have tried activating a sim that i purchased from the shops and typing in the promo…
      Sadly it didn't work.
You'll need to go through the process of getting one delivered to you with the new service on your existing phone number.
      Fantastic deal!

  • Difficult to sign up again with the same email address, in fact it won't let you and only support can update it for you.

Use a different email address when coming back into Amaysim.

    • Really? I ported out and signed-up for a SIM the same day and my password still worked.

      • Mine worked too.

      • In the processes did you had to give card details. Because when I selected voucher as payment option, I faced an error.

        • +1

          My card was already added.

          But your issue sounds familiar.
