    Maybe you could define "cheap"

Cheap for a hotel in my mind is about $200-250 a night…

    • Cheap is sub $80 per night.

That's not likely to happen. Unless you mean per person

Agreed - Will need to pay around $150-170 for like 2-3 star place.

@CheapSticks: uh oh, I think OP is downvoting us because the truth hurts. Haha.

If he wants to stay for less than $80 a night he'll have to find a friend to stay with and chip in for dinner & rent. Either that or rent swags and camp under the bridge.

        • Don't know why you're being negged. $80 per night for 4 people is basically camping out at Central station with a wood stove.

@Quantumcat: I have not downvoted anyone. You are good to have your opinions. Thats why I posted it here.

  • backpacker

    • Backpackers are usually only cheaper for one person. Four in a four bed dorm would add up. Not sure about Sydney but in some cities, hotels or apartments are cheaper.

If OP is interested, I’ve stayed at The Pod Sydney, which was excellent.

  • Central Station.

depends on what you need to do in sydney given a short trip….if touristy stuff best stay in darling harbour area - it wont be super expensive given school holidays will be over. If you got stuff to do in North shore, try Northshore Hotel in North Sydney - pretty cheap but basic. Parramatta offers some cheap options as well.

  • Airbnb.

  • If you don't mind sharing a bathroom, Glenferrie Lodge on the North Shore is quite cheap, you get your own private room and it's in a nice location :)
