$15 Free PSN/Xbox Store Credit When You Trade in Any Game over $5 Towards $15 PSN/Xbox Credit @ EB Games

810

Basically a repeat of this deal not too long ago.

Here are some notes from the last deal -

  • Game's value must be over $5.
  • Only Xbox One, PS4, Switch and 3DS games can be traded in.
  • First 10,000 customers only.
  • Despite EB's wording, 1000 V-Bucks (Fornite's in-game currency) is equivalent to $15 in Xbox/PSN credit and will be given as such, since there is no redemption code for V-Bucks themselves.

Most importantly, $5 from the game's value must be traded towards Xbox/PSN credit.
Example; Game's initial trade value is $8. The monies you'll be given are as follows - $15 Xbox credit, $5 Xbox credit and $3 in EB Games credit/giftcard (remainder of the $8).

List of games that have $5+ in value (posted 3.5 months ago, prices may vary) - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/374684?page=1#comment-5893…

T&C's from the email I got-

10 MILLION VBUCKS: 1000 V-Bucks provided as digital credit. EB Trade policy applies. Must trade at least one PS4, Xbox One, Switch, or 3DS game with a minimum trade value of $5. Offer valid once per person. Not to be combined with any other offer except EB World. See staff for details.

        • Update, no luck, traded in 1 game worth $5, plus 15% eb card and got a $20 Xbox live code plus $1.60 on eb card. You can take good advantage of this deal if you travel to a few EB stores and make the most out of it

  • I went to eb games and the guy said they have minimum $15 credit.
So if you trade a $7 game, you have to pay another$8 to reach the $15 credit, then you get a bonus credit $15 credit. Is this right or was he wrong?

    • They're supposed to trade it towards a $5 card with the $15 serving as your free 1000 V-bucks, but I just had a similar deal at a store in the city.

      • Did you go through with it? Had to end up trading two games for one$15 voucher. Initially planning to trade it separately.

        • The Ts&Cs state you only need to purchase a $5+ voucher by trading in a game.

I went to an EB store with 2 games. EB would offer $5 for one game and $6 for another game. I thought I had to trade in the $6 game, but the staff actually told me I am better off trading in the $5. Walked out with two vouchers ($15 and $5) = $20 without paying a cent extra.

However, if the game is not a multiple of $5's, they tend to ask you to pay the difference to get the next $5 mark. With EB, it's all staff dependent. Some are really helpful and knowledgeable.

        • @netsurfer: damn. The guy wouldn't budge when I told him that. I'll have to try a few stores

    • guy said they have minimum $15 credit

WRONG They can issue $5 code, that is the minimum ps4/psn credit voucher. They can either issue a $15 and $5 or 2x$10 . If game trades for say $6 or $7 though, the extra $1-$2 will be discarded (unless you find something in store for $2) . They can only issue in myltiples of $5 .

      • that's what's stated at the title too. i think other eb's have been more lenient

    • +1

No that isn't right. All you need is a trade worth 5 dollars. Then they can take that 5 dollars and put it towards the 15 dollars psn/xbox live credit

      • Correct . The $5 trade is still ""towards the credit/vbucks" . Whether they put it as a $5 voucher or towards a $500 voucher

  • Traded Wofenstein-$12 Watch Dogs 2-$9 and Halo Wars2-$10 Level 2 so also received a 10% bonus credit on top
I did each game individually (staff said one per customer but asked for 3 said fine)
Walked away with $85 in Xbox credit! I had to pay small amounts to round up to nearest voucher eg $25 or $30
    EG Wolfenstein $12 + 10% = $13.20 + $15 Bonus (total $28.20) paid extra $1.80 cash GOT a $30 xbox credit

Here's my haul and even after doing the transaction I'm still a bit confused.

    GT Sport: trade-in value $13
Paid an extra $2 in cash to make it up to $15
    Received: $30 PSN Credit

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare (PS4): trade-in value $6
Received: $20 Xbox credit plus $1 EB store credit

So all up instead of getting $19 total trade in value I received $50 in PSN/XBOX credit so definitely better off. However the way I read this post was that I would receive whatever the trade in value was less $5 as store credit on top of the PSN/XBOX credit? Maybe someone smarter than me can help me figure out what the hell just happened?

    • I’m so confused too. I traded in a game for $20 and only got a $20 psn?

      • Should have got $35 by what I got

      • The game was worth $20? Did you not ask for the $15 voucher

        • Infamous first light came up as $5.5 p/o. Ended up coming as $20.5 p/o on my receipt.? (I don’t know why it was that much?) (Includes EB world 10%)

I got 50c on eb gift card.

I am so confused with how this works, I think I’ve read my receipt wrong.

        • +1

@F4ncy2: that's the promo. $15 on top of whatever you trade

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: Oh ok, thanks 👍🏼

      • I think you have to mention (ask for) the deal .

  • PS4:
    Doom $6
    Black Flag $6
    Mass Effect Andromeda $6

    Watch Dogs $3
    Singstar $3

  • Dupe

  • Drive club $6 haha

  • Went to five different EB stores today haha. Wasted about 2.5 hours though :/

  • Did a few more today, for a value of $150. That brings the total up to over $300 worth of credit earned. I doubt trade prices will return from these lows after the deal is over, so if you're on the fence I'd say go for it.

    Everything I've traded that's >$5 so far (These should be pre-EB World bonus. I'm level four, so extra 20%. L3 = 15%, L2 = 10%).
Where possible, I've topped off the trade with cash, up to the next available Xbox Credit amount to avoid getting stuck with an EB gift card.

    WWE 2K15 - $5.80 (Received $25)
    Dishonoured 2 - $5 (Received $25)
    Far Cry 4 - $6 (Received $25)
    Borderlands Collection - $15 (Received $35)
    Diablo 3 - $8 (Received $30)
    Skyrim SE - $10 (Received $30)
    For Honor - $6 (Received $30)
    Doom - $5 (Received $25)
    Ghost Recon: Wildlands - $10 (Received $30)
    Watchdogs 2 - $10 (Received $30)
    Rainbow Six: Siege - $8 (Received $30)

    • Did you trade in all games at once!? If so what store?

      • Nah, stores are getting very picky about enforcing the one per person rule. I sampled the promotion on the 11th by trading WWE2K15, then did five each day for the past two days. Had a bit of luck with a store willing to take three games at once yesterday, but no luck when returning there today.

I've done this sort of thing before, no point risking getting made trying to return to the same store later in the day in a new hat and fake moustache!

Look for a group of stores close together, like in Melbourne's CBD. Two are in walking distance, with the other just a short tram ride away. You might get lucky with the more 'out of the way' stores in regards to trading more than one game at a time, but always make sure they do each trade as a separate transaction.

        • Thanks for the response, I think most EB stores would know that it’s one per person now.

  • Anybody willing to share their EB World? Want to get the bonus promo.

  • Is this deal still on, since it's not been marked as expired yet?

'Bout to head out for lunch, dunno if I should bring a couple of cheapies with me to dump on EB or not.

    • Deal is still running. Just lined up my last four games and about to head out too.

      • Yeah, I saw that in store. Didn't end up bringing any, cleared out most of the games I've got that are both A: worth $5 and B: not something I want to keep for myself.

Wonder when the deal will end, Season 5's been going for a couple days now, thought the start of that would be the end of this.

  • Kid Icarus 3ds - $10

  • Did my last few worthwhile trades. Four games to a total of $135, bringing me up to a grand total of $450. Bring on the Xbox Summer Sale!

Be careful of store miscommunication. Ran into an issue with an out of the way store earlier that hadn't been applying the promotion correctly, resulting in people getting less credit than they should have.

(In my case, trading in a game worth $14 according to them would mean the promotion would only give me an extra dollar, bringing it to a total trade value of $15, rather than the $14 + $15 Bonus.) The store was pretty adamant they were correct, but were willing to phone customer service to double check. We got it sorted in the end, but I'd hate to see folks lose out over a small mistake like that.

    Confirmed >$5 (Pre EB-World Bonus)

Call of Duty Ghosts - $8 (Received $25)
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 - $15 (Received $35)
    Far Cry 5 - $22 (Received $45)
Call of Duty Infinite Warfare/Call of Duty 4 Remastered - $12 (Received $30)

Shadow of the Colossus trade in value is $19. I bought the game for the same price at Target. With $15 bonus credit, makes a good profit.

  • Few prices

    Dishonored 2 - $5
South Park Fractured but whole - $8
    Uncharted Lost Legacy - $13

  • Mario Tennis 3DS - $8 - $9.60 with EB World Level 4 (Thought it might be a bit more since it is a Mario game but the game is only $29 I think new.
    Shinobi 3DS - $5

Don't know if it was done right. It was $9.60 for Mario Tennis, then I had to make it up to $15 eshop, then I received the bonus $15. So I pay $5.40 for $30 eshop, not complaining just a bit confusing.
Tried to trade with Shinobi but was told only once per person, sucks some can trade more than once but not everybody can.

Yep, that's the correct way. At least $5 of that trade value has to go towards credit (eshop in your case), but the lowest value they have is $15, hence the $5.40.

  • What?, I traded in trials fusion and only got a $15 voucher and the last time I did was Battlefield 4 and got a $20 voucher.

  • Thanks to this post just went to a couple of EBs and used their fortnight promotion to trade Ghost Recon, Forza Horizon 3, Gran Turismo Sport and Prey + $15 for $135 in eShop gift cards.

Gonna hit up a couple more this afternoon. Got 4 more games to trade.

    • isnt it one per customer?

      • I was with my fiancee so she did one and I did one. The 2nd store lady probably would have let us do more but was working alone with a long queue so I didn't push it. I've got two more stores within 10 minutes of me so will do them later.

Will end up with ~$260 worth of credit for my old almost worthless games and $30.

        • How did you go with your other trades? Did you use an EB World card? Thought that would they know as they could just check on your membership.

        • @cheepo:

I used my EB World card for 5 out of the 8 trades. The 2nd store made my partner sign up for a card as well and we used her's for the other 3.

        • @llmoose:
Interesting. Just thought it was strictly one per customer and they would know based on the history of the account/card. Well done.

        • @cheepo: I did 5 games, all sitting there not being played. Local store I went Thurs, Fri and Sat with different staff, then carried other 2 games at different stores I was driving pass yesterday. They don't check history. I got over $100 for 5 games I wasn't playing and people weren't buying off GumTree.

  • I personally traded in Trials Fusions (Xbox One) for $6. A preowned copy at JB goes for $12 if you're like me and don't have any XB1/PS4 game to sell.

Also, Rainbow Six Siege goes for $8 and The Crew (first one) is $5.

    • To add to this, the code for the season pass has not been redeemed!

  • I took in games I hadn't finished as I could trade them in for more than I purchased them for and also buy them on the PC if I wanted for less.

  • Is the deal still on?

    • As of Sunday (yesterday), yes.

    • Its first 10,000 customers so it'll end as soon as that target is hit. Was still going Monday evening.

  • +2

Here's hoping this deal is still kicking come Thursday when my copies of FIFA on Xbox and PS4 come via Amazon Prime Day.

Supposedly worth 16 bucks before 20% bonus, so then it's 19.20, add a $15 buck voucher on top of them both and I've turned 20 bucks into 70 bucks. That'd be a nice little profit.

  • Glad this is still going. Just did FIFA 18 for $30 credit.

    • $15 initial trade value, right?

      • $12+EB game trade bonus based on your level

  • Cheers OP, just redeemed it today was still going :)

  • Hidden Agenda $6
    Tearaway $5
    Far Cry 4 $6

  • More games -

Metroid Prime Force Federation - $8
Tales of the Borderlands - $6
Killer Instinct (combo breaker version) - $8
Killer Instinct (definitive edition) - $10

  • Is this still on? I wonder how much trade in credit Wolfenstein II will get seeing as EB is selling the game for only $10. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/392279

    • Not sure but the First game gets $12 without EB World bonus, as mentioned above, so should be higher then that.

      • +1

        Wolfenstein 2 is$12

        • thanks

          But wtf is your avatar?!

        • @first in line: dog ear meme

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: looks like the head of a dead blonde woman

        • @first in line: Is the deal still on? I need to clean up the last few of my games.

        • @F4ncy2: don’t know. I was asking the same question

        • @F4ncy2: called this morning and it is

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: it’s still on. Just went to EB and I’m really confused , I traded in $15 worth of games (3 games in one transaction, before EB card bonus) and got $35 credit.

The guy said it had to make up the $15 1,000 vbucks which is equal to $15, and I had to trade in that amount to receive $30.

        • @F4ncy2: yep got told the same thing. Others have been lucky by not having to meet the $15 minimum

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: ahhh so EB being dodgy again. They’ve upped the minimum to $15 when it clearly says min $5 instore too.

          Typical. 😤

Going to go into another EB and see what happens

        • @F4ncy2: minimum $5 game to trade towards a $15 credit. bit confusing.

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: oh, so the guy made me trade in 2 more games for a $35 credit…? Wish eb could make the deal a bit more clear

        • @F4ncy2: damn you got ripped

Should have traded the 3 games in separately to get $15 bonus credit per game.

        • @F4ncy2: yeah so the 3 games added to $20 , bonus 15

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: oh ok… so let me make this clear, eb changed their deal so you had to make up the $15 in vbucks. Because 1,000 = $15. So apparently I had to trade in $15 worth of games, 3 worth $5 each, for $35 credit. I thought I should’ve gotten $45 credit for those 3 games?

        • @F4ncy2:

this is what most are able to do
          game 1 + 15 credit=20 (5+15 credit)
          repeat 3 times=60.

          us
have to trade in a game, with a minimum value of 5 towards a 15 credit. so minimum voucher is 15+15 credit. you have 3 games 5 each. they make up the 15 minimum. did you use eb world? as you got 5 extra

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: used eb world and got 10% extra which made the extra $5 credit?

        • @F4ncy2: 10% is only 1.5 lol

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: F4ncy2 still thinks you need to trade in $15 worth of games - (so the extra 10% on 3 games somehow helped).

It all depends on the staff. Some are nice and tell you to trade in a $5 game instead of one that's $6 (coz. you need to pay another $4 to get to the next level of the voucher). Some don't even enforce you must buy another $5 worth of voucher (so they are willing to give you $15 voucher + say an eB world credits for the remaining so you don't need to fork out the difference to reach the next $5 mark).

On the other hand, some staff would attempt to trade in all your games (if you brought more than 1 game) - which means you are actually worse off.

        • @netsurfer: the eb's and I think f4ncy2 I've been to are following the deal's title literally.
$15 Free PSN/Xbox Store Credit When You Trade in Any Game over $5 Towards $15 PSN/Xbox Credit.
You guys have it much better.

    • The other day Lilydale said they'd stopped, Chirnside apparently were about to but ran my last two through.

Was in Eastland today and they had a sign up for it but it was hidden and I forgot to ask personally, seems to be store by store now, in any case, I'd say it's winding down so get in quick.

  • Just traded my 10 buck copy of Wolf 2 for 14.40 plus the 15, got a 30 buck voucher for 60 cents. How to turn 10 bucks into 30, ladies and gents.

    • Still going on? So much for the "First 10,000 customers" then.

      • +1

A couple stopped the other day then I was in today by chance and saw a sign, apparently it's back on "til we get an email from head office saying to stop" … Traded in Wolf (and a couple others with the missus and a buddy) at the same very store that denied me a week or so back saying they had stopped the deal completely.

Can confirm Lilydale and Chirnside Park in VIC are still doing it, imagine they aren't the only ones.

        • +1

It actually depends on the staff, rather than the stores. My experience with same set of stores:

          • Some staff would not enforce the remaining $5+ voucher (on top of $15 voucher) must be another XB or PS voucher and can even be EB Game credits (making life easier - so no need to fork out any money to reach the next $5 level).
          • Some would check and ask whether you have done one previously.
          • Some of them think you must pay $15 to buy another voucher in order to get this $15 bonus voucher and you must also trade in a game worth $5 or more (and no matter how much that game is worth, it only gets you that $15 bonus voucher (your EB bonus level is also useless) - which makes zero sense).

You can get top notch service from one staff one day, and complete opposite the next.

        • @netsurfer: Reckon it's still on at the moment? found a couple old cheap shitty games that should just pull a fiver each in the stack.

        • @TheDukeOfNukem: Well, I tried one yesterday (Saturday), the staff was super nice and gave me a $15 voucher + an EB games gift card for the remaining credits.

Today, same store, the other staff interpreted the rules in an odd way. Insisted that I must pay $15 to buy an additional voucher in order to get the deal (and indicated my EB World membership bonus is useless in the deal). I simply got the game back and walked away.

In short, it is up to the staff. However, it is probably finishing soon.

        • @TheDukeOfNukem: Yep, it's still on.

  • The Glen wouldn't do it today, but I just got a couple done at Knox, despite the guy at The Glen saying every store had stopped doing it.

Might be winding down, might just he a (profanity), who knows.

    • Is that Derek who served you at Glen EB?

      • Wouldn't know, first time I've ever been in that shopping centre and didn't catch the dude's name, sorry.

        • He is a tall guy with glasses. Always wear the blue ebgames t-shirt.

  • Is this still valid/available ?
I noticed not marked as 'expired' .

    • I asked Eb wollongong. They said its over… but also said it will probably be back on again some time soon, because apparently it went very well for them and was "very popular" .
