The initial email did not advise that. Maybe as soon as they saw this thread and maybe the email which I sent earlier, they decided to tweak their apology email ;)

      This was their initial email:

      Hi there,

Thank you for sending through your receipt – we really appreciate you taking the time to get in touch.

Unfortunately, this particular promotion has already ended. It appears that an inactive webpage link was distributed via OzBargain.

We sincerely apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

      Kind regards,

      THR1VE

Before receiving the "no longer available" email, I received an email "orders are closing soon". I've never ordered THR1VE, but they missed the opportunity of convincing me that they are better than Youfoodz (which doesn't seem to be the case anyway).

waste of time with free info sharing.

    Hi THR1VE,

I'll never shop with you (again) - Might have considered it if the promo actually worked…..

    Kind Regards,

    NoTHR1VE.

The thing that always amazes me with these kinds of mistakes (assuming that's what it was, and not a malicious data grab), is that the companies involved hardly ever try to offer something in return, which goes a long way in keeping people from raging, even though the vast majority will never take you up on your offer.

    What should happen:

"We screwed up and completely underestimated the number of people who would sign up for this. As way of apology, we'd like to offer you a 20% off voucher or something."

    What always happens in reality:

"This is your fault, not ours, so get stuffed. (but thanks for your data)"

Classic bait and switch. Best way to hit them back is leave a negative review https://www.productreview.com.au/p/thr1ve.html

      What did they switch to?

I have spoken with then on an online chat and they point blank refuse to do anything other than saying sorry.
Told them I would talk to consumer affairs about their deceptive tactics and not honouring their promotion.

Tell them to remove your details from their system as you do not want to be contacted anymore.

Booo. You're on my list alongside Noodlebox and GoCatch.

      alongside Noodlebox

Ah, you mean the deal that was apparently confirmed to be legit but then literally never heard anything else about it? What a joke.

      • +1

Yeah I think noodlebox got off easy with that fiasaco. I personally haven't eaten there since.

No such thing as 'inactive web link'. You expire an online form, you don't just leave it there for people to fill in then claim oh yeah… it was expired. Bulldust.

  • Just wrote a reply back telling them to remove my email from their database and do not contact me in the future.

    • I did that too and they confirmed they would. This morning I woke up to a newsletter from them.

  • +1

Email I got from them said the deal expired “a couple of weeks ago”. Their reply to someone’s comment on product review say it expired “over two months ago”. They are clearly liars

  • Looks like a bad mistake by Thr1ve not honouring and everyone knows what happens to companies in Ozbargain when this happens, they get negative reviews like Hey You and spreads around.

Bad publicity for the company, especially when the founder had received millions in funding from capital ventures to start up Thr1ve.
