Bad experience on Menulog

Oily Curry

Has anyone been successful in obtaining a refund from menulong before?

I ordered two curries and they were literally all oil. I have the worst heartburn now and paying $28 for curry and getting a container of oil is a rip off. Tried some but then had to throw them out.

What can I do if I am not happy with the food quality?

What should I do if the food received is not what I requested?

  • I had an issue a while back with Menulog, sent them a picture showing that the store had left a bread clip in my burger (which I nearly choked on), the store flat denied it and said that I was lying. Menulog didn't offer any help, never again. Luckily it was cheapish with the $15 off voucher, but their support was useless.

    • If only they were like Deliveroo and refunded you;( that’s horrible ! Did you take it further ?

      • Yeah I was thinking they would have offered something at least, but they just sent me an email saying the store denies it and that they can't do anything about it. I tried to go to the local council to take up an unsafe food claim because I was furious that the store said I was a liar, but it got too hard to escalate so I gave up lol.

Hopefully you have a different experience! But from what I can tell, they're not like Deliveroo/Uber Eats, they don't seem to even care.

    What should I do?

What did menulog say when you asked them? I'm sure it wasn't to post the issue here

    • They basically said thanks for the feedback , goodbye

    Ring the restaurant

    • I did. She didn’t speak English and said “what’s oil” , “does it mean it spilt?”, “we don’t no use oil in our products “

    Did you order mostly oil?

The "literally all oil" curry is a new type of curry that is supposed to help lubricate on exit.

    • +1

Never needed that option, all curries I've eaten are self lubricating. Maybe because I grew up WASP in the '60s and my system cannot adjust.

That's a lot of oil. You could probably deep fry a spring roll in it!

Just to clarify, Menulog is basically just a "menu log". They don't even have their own drivers (thought they recently teamed up with Drive Yello).

Perhaps complaining directly to the restaurant will get you more results. Edit: OK, just read your comment. Oh well. That's exactly what they said to me in India ("so what is it then?")

Do a charge back on your credit card, end of story

In fairness, menulog is just an ordering/payment platform … they don't really screen the food or it's quality and just because it's not to your liking, doesn't mean the food is 'bad'.

You could have the same experience with a local restaurant who did a letter box drop and you ordered from them. If you can't be bothered going down to the restaurant and asking for a refund, you just have to take it on the cheek.

    If only they were like Deliveroo and refunded you;

Interesting .. didn't realize they did that.

Defeats the purpose of paying for delivery when you are busy studying for final exams .

I don't dispute you had a sh**ty meal … but everyone lucks out at restaurants. I don't think you should expect menulog to take the hit on this.

Go down to the restaurant, tell them what you really think.

However, I suspect you're not going to. It's easier to just b*tch and moan on the internet, isn't it?

Nearly two-thirds of Australian adults are overweight or obese.

So if you actually got off your behind and collected your own takeaway food in person (a new concept) you would have been able to judge the quality of the food by seeing what others had ordered and if it was not up to your standard you could have left and purchased something else.

We have all had bad meals. Put it down to bad experience and move on. See the positive you have not died and you are well enough to whinge about it on OzBargain.

I could imagine you visiting the pokies and losing money. You would probably demand management to give you a full refund. LOL

Bad meal?. That wasn't even what the OP ordered.

Since when is four vegetable pieces swimming in oil a curry?

I would have called the Westpac rescue helicopter to save those veggies from drowning.

Don’t need to be so rude! I’ve ordered from there in the past and it was fine. I don’t exactly have the time at the moment . I am Sick and have exams coming up .Normally I would.

So did you eat the meal? If so why?

If the meal was presented like that then more fool you for eating it…

Frankly I call bullshit on the picture.

    • Again. So rude. It’s not bullshit. I’ll take more if you want. I tried a tablespoon after swirling the oil around, but it didn’t do much.

You don’t need to be such a dick to random online strangers, just because you don’t have anything better to do with your life.

    • pjcook, let's please be respectful.

  • Menulog is full of dark kitchens, dont use it.

  • Lodge a paypal dispute if you paid paypal. I have found they redund you after doing this

  • Google review!

The review restaurants fear the most.

I'm not saying that is a lot of oil, but BP called and expressed interest.

I had an issue recently and had to chase my refund. I didn’t even get the food as i ordered and specified GF on 1meal. The restaurant rang and said could not do and I said then I don’t want it and please cancel and refund. They said I had to cancel with menulog.

I could find no help on how to cancel so did an online chat outlining the issue. At first she tried to get me to order something else. I said the restaurant cannot do GF so you expect me to make my husband sick rather than just cancel and get a refund,

So she eventually cancelled the order and said a refund would be processed the next day. It didn’t happen. I had quickly lodged a dispute with my credit card provider.

Nothing happened from any source, so 3 weeks later i emailed Menulog. There was no delay tactics: an apology for not processing the credit when they should have, a $15 credit on Menulog and best of all a credit was processed and came up within A couple of days on the card.

a menulog order i got a few weeks back came with the drinks missing. There's an option in the app to report missing items, which i did, and got a refund fairly quickly. Didnt need to speak to anyone. I guess that's a different thing to complaining about quality though.

Leave a google review on the restaurant?
