With the right hookup's… I bought mine for $650AUD to the door

    • This same machine, with mask, consumables and local warranty?

      • Yes, same exact machine

Mask? Anyones mask will work, I often grab them on special for $50-ish

Consumables? Filters… I can buy 6 months worth for under $20…

Warranty? Who the hell cares? It's a regulated air pump. Find a good CPAP repairer and let them go at it. Or just buy another one for $650.

Never had one fail on me yet, I am absolutely waaaaaay ahead as opposed to buying one here

        • Where did you buy it from at that price? My mother has an older machine and I would love to buy her a new one.

        • +1

Are you sure it wasn't the same machine but the fixed pressure version? This is an automatic pressure machine which generally cost a lot more. The Philips DreamWear masks are known to be one of the best masks you can buy and this consumables pack includes a lot more than filters. I think you will find when you add up the costs this is an excellent deal, plus if you are with HBF you can potentially get even further discounts and health rebates.

No chance in hell you got this exact machine in Australia for $650 delivered. No chance ever.

I own this exact machine, and I'm constantly on the look out for a second one to keep as a backup. I can 100% say these are NOT available for $650AU delivered.

Even in the US, they are $800 odd (in US dollars, no delivery, no taxes, no masks, no import fees to be added on top).

The above pack comes with a mask and filters, AND an Australian Warranty.

I chose to buy mine from the US and forgo the warranty about 18 months ago. It was about $1100AU delivered, with a dreamwear mask and a couple of filters as a special sale that was on. THAT was about as cheap as you could get.

$650 delivered? No chance. Never. Not for the Auto. Not with the Humidifier attached to the back of it.
Maybe… if you stripped it down the front section only, and bought the non-Auto version, with no other extras, and from the US with no warranty… then maybe you could get close to $650. Still tough even then.

      • In regards to OP's deal, this is ok pricing for local stock.
I wouldn't call it a bargain so to speak, and the $3200 "value" can safely be ignored because no one pays that (unless you are buying from the shop next to the sleep clinic and are old enough to not know how to use a computer at all).

If you can get local stock and a deal that:

        • Is the Auto model (there's different ones, the Auto is the premium one… but once you go the sleep clinic and they give you your starting figures you'll probably just use them anyway and never use the Auto mode anyway).

        • Has the heated tube, and not just a cheap plastic one that doesn't warm up.

        • Has a choice of mask (I use the Dreamwear mask but also have a full face mask if I happen to have a cold or something)

        • Has a filter pack (they are only $20 for a 5 pack, but if included it'll get you started)

        • And being Australian stock has Australian Warranty coverage

All for $1500-1600, you're doing well.

Like I said, buying US… and waiting for the sales every few months, you can save another $500 odd but lose warranty coverage.
I'd rather do that to be honest, but if you need a set up RIGHT NOW, then $1700 - $1800 is a good range to be aiming for.
Not great, but not a rip off.

        • Thanks for your input - I would just add that the consumables kit is worth $221.99 so is definitely more than just filters. If you are a member of HBF (which a lot of people in WA are), I believe you will get an additional $100 discount as well as a $720 health rebate, meaning the total package comes out to $959 which is a true bargain considering the local 5 year warranty.

    • who did you get hooked up thru?

So for me, including shipping, just the machine comes out to $1250 AUD without the mask and consumables. The warranty on this overseas model is only 2 years, not a 5 year local warranty and ongoing support. Also, like I mentioned, if you are with HBF you can potentially get even further significant discounts on this $1779 package

Also, I don't think that machine includes a modem, which Friendlies use to monitor your therapy

      • +2

Can guarantee NO ONE is monitoring that data in the cloud. It shoots the data to the cloud every morning. Friendlies haven't employed someone to look at their hundreds of customer's modem data, every day. That's like saying the NSA checks every single phone call made in the USA.

      • +1

You can sync your data via Bluetooth connection on your phone. There you can monitor your usage and it also syncs up to the Phillips server. You don't need the modem in Australia, as your sleep clinic doctor can access that info as well via the memory card in your machine.

There is absolutely no reason for Friendlies to be monitoring your data, as you should be going back to your clinic for them to adjust your settings. Once you get used to the settings, you can go into the 'doctor hidden menu' and change the settings to suit according to what you see on the DreamMapper app. You can see your Apnea and Hypopnea count each day, and you should be able to reliably keep it to single digits every night. Like I said, once you find your exact settings, you'll probably never use the Auto mode again.

edited: dangerdanger just beat me ;).

    • They're good as well, purchased a ResMed Autoset S10 from them.

    • I can second this, these guys were great and had it delivered within a week.

    • Thread delivers (y)

    • Damn… just noticed the spelling mistake. I really should use autocorrect

  • what is the difference between this CPAP and BiPAP?

    • APAP…

APAP adjusts the pressure automatically as required between two set pressures. BIPAP just goes either/or switching between the two, nothing in between

I bought the same machine from USA for $800 delivered
It works really well, I had an expensive 1 month trial of this unit from the local chemist first, the lady at the chemist gets a huge commission to sell them, she was leaving voicemails daily. Ended up reading some forums and found out it’s much cheaper stateside. With these inflated Australian prices you a can see why insurance is so expensive, prescription glasses are the same.

    • could you share where you purchased it from?

  • So just wondering - are these things really that good? Might help my daughter sleep

    • +1

You should get her to do a sleep study before jumping in.
