the deal details are misleading already …

postage should be explained in the details. it is also not on your website.

also the website suggests that the dvds could be USED

      • postage details are on the website.

  • +3

Seems to be free delivery in a select few suburbs in Vic
Others $9.90 anywhere in Australia…Get that postage down and I'd be interested…

  • +1

Its express post, so you can get up to 10 DVDs for $9.90 postage.

    • +1

I'd like to see a regular post option at a reduced cost. I don't mind waiting a little longer for my dvds.

      • the only reason why i prefer express post is because it covers insurance, just incase they dont arrive, or they do and people say they havent recieved it. This way it covers both sides up to $100

  • +1

The FAQ asking of the DVD's are new or used doesn't get answered, except for that they are in perfect condition. It appears people may get a 2nd hand DVD? Please confirm.

Also please confirm if they come in the original sealed cases.

    • yes that is correct, we recieve hundreds of DVDs and cannot determine which ones are brand new and not, about 60% are new, however not sealed. So the safest way is to state they may be used. We are that confident that we offer a full money back if you are not happy with the product.

Put that in the listing then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Hardly a bargain if it's 2nd hand DVD's!

  • will be interested in the tv series, blurays and games!

    • i have hundreds already, just not enough time to set it up, will do it asap.

  • Very keen on the blu rays Are avatar and that available? there are pictures but it's not in the list. You should also make it so people can email you for purchases.

    • avatar was available, however will be available again early next week. had about 20+ of them, theres about 5 more coming in on monday. You can email me on [email protected], thanks for the advice will work on that now.

Blurays section will be available next week.

I wonder how well this "Tony" guy speaks English on the phone… "Ready of the Movies??"

    • +3

give me a call and find out. But sorry guys its just a typo, will fix it up now

  • Forgive my skepticism:

    • Please add an About Us page with your ABN, postal address and any related business (eBay etc).

    • $5 doesn't leave much room for profit - where do the 60% that are new stock come from?

    • there isnt much profit, however i sell lots. I run stalls at a few markets and move about 400 dvds a week. I was just trying to attack a different sector. I will add an about us page when i have some time.

      • +1

Even adding your ABN to the footer of your page would be something — I like to have recourse if there is an issue.

        Do you accept PayPal?

        • yes paypal is fine

  • Which payment methods do you accept?

    • paypal, cash on delivery, bank deposit

  • Generally speaking, aftermarket discs are an excellent way to acquire a collection legally without giving money to corporations that conduct themselves unscrupulously and/or illegally (e.g. abuse and misrepresentation of copyright laws; exploitation of artists, employees and populations; lobbying governments to legislate with a profit-motive rather than the public-good; or just investing in other unethical corporations/regimes).

I'm not kidding or rationalising when I say that it is often more ethical to [collect entertainment without paying money] than to pay for them, and thus support dangerous and aggressive foreign corporations.

It's not the only factor, but it deserves consideration if you value the future of culture and liberty.

Looks really dodgy - basic website, no ABN or contact details other than the mobile number. No mention of relevant taxes obviously. Not sure if this is better or worse than eBay, but pretty sure it's on the level of 2nd hand market and not a bargain.

    • +4

agreed, no ABN, website half finished (privacy policy missing), appears to be the front end for a dropshipping operation.

OMG what is wrong with a unfinished website. and its not dropshipping when i have all the stock on hand.

you guys really need to get your facts straight before accusing things

    • +2

Dude you should sort out your sh#t before you start advertising

  • How do you handle payment?

    • paypal, cash on delivery, bank deposit

  • A great deal but looks slightly dodgy though seems like it could be legit.

Where are the DVD's sourced from

    • -1

      probably ex-rental

    • +2

i would like to know as well :)

  • +3

    Impressively bad.
    - No ABN (as mentioned by several previous posters)
    - Contact only via a mobile number
    - Most of the linked DVD page is one big JPEG
    - Loosely linked parent site has an great Privacy Policy "Put here your Privacy Notice information.": http://www.marketdeals.com.au/shop/privacy.php

    Avoid like the plague.

  • +1

So email the order in writing and pay via paypal. 5 ex rentals for $35 including postage isn't too bad.

    • they are not exrentals, its clearly stated on the website.

      • So there not new as they are sometimes opened and not ex-rental what are they???

        • Off the back of a truck? literally.

          man what a good riddle

        • +2

Tony, when you say the movies are in perfect condition, that suggests the movies can be played.

Are the discs and packaging also in perfect condition, with the packaging being retail packaging?

Just trying to guess the answer to where "not new" ones come from …

          • ex-display or demo? (eg what they show on the tvs in stores or rental places)
          • from that dvd amnesty thing (amnesty as in, get rid of DVDs you'd be ashamed for people to know you have … that was the promo although any DVD could be sent in when u purchased certain DVDs)
          • ex-landfill (there are some groups that will intercept items that have gone to land fill from stores after the items could not be sold …)
          • consignments bought from clearance houses or liquidations of other businesses
          • factory surplus that is not sealed
          • retail/warehouse surplus that might not be sealed
          • stock from businesses affected by flooding or hurricane
          • stuff from pawn stores and cash convertor type businesses

Not that there's anything wrong with any of those ideas.

It's just gonna bug us and leave some people a little wary if they don't know where these DVDs are coming from
