  • How much in RMB? Fyi this is not global edition

    • Global rom version

      And in RMB: $2132.17

    • China version: official price : 1699RMB = about 340 AUD

  • RMB is 1699, which is $337,then + GST + profit.
I don't think this is OFFICIAL Global Rom, likely it's Seller Rom, which is 'brick' version.

  • If we buy from AliExpress, customs will ask us to pay gst? That’s another $40?

    • +2

      Yep

      • Wait…what? Isn't it on the business not the consumer to pay GST on imported items under $1000?

And it's if they feel like it?

      • My friend bought a phone two weeks ago , and received it today, seems no GST charged ( not from AliExpress though).
How doest this gst work? Only for big sellers like AliExpress / JoyBuy / Amazon US / GearBest?
If we get charged with GST, how do we pay?
Pay online first and then deliver? or Pick up at AusPost and Pay gst there?

I got some eBay items, they just added 10% at the checkout. That's all there was to it from my end, so I assume eBay then pay it to ATO in a lump every so often. Same as JB or Woolies, they collect and deal with passing it on. No hassle for customs as it is already paid. I'm not sure how they are dealing with limited value items from smaller retailers that don't collect it as it is a lot of hassle.

    • Do we pay customs know? and how much percent.

Note: Chinese version installed with Global ROM, support multi-languages, Google Play and OTA.

How dose it translate to user experience. Will I get software updates regularly? How will it differ form a global version.

Thankfully they decided to retain the 3.5mm jack.

  • I was also looking into it as palnning to upgrade from my mi max 2. The price seemed a bit hi and I don't have experience with AliExpress so not sure but the store name shows xiaomi online store. Is it a official xiaomi store? Any experience dealing with AliExpress?

    • it is not official xiaomi store. xiaomi has no offical store on AliExpress.

No band 28, no NFC, these things are pretty important these days

    • +2

i can explain NFC, china is Wechat dominated which relies on QR codes. So it would be waste of hardware with NFC to them.

      • Wechat currency is more widely accepted than cash in China.

  • i wanted the blue version but it was not in the initial release batch, no one knows why as yet, the device at current price cost 1700 RMB, if one use transfer shipping company, the cost would be about 1850 RMB, which is approx 380 AUD. but one must live with China native ROM. It is not hard to install GSpyware Play suite though.. :)

    • I'm interested in blue too.

    • Probably can join in shipping two together to Sydney?

  • in china is around A$350

  • Is NFC that big of a deal ? My phone has it but I've only used it for like once per year (when Amex has these cashback promotions)

    • I have NFC in my Samsung S8+, but being korean hardware, Google pay or Samsung pay doesn't work correctly (additional hw checks using the SIM card required in Korea apprently). Although nice, you can live without NFC in 2018.

    • Means you don't use credit card or tapi to pay alot, maybe?

  • Not sure about NFC anymore as I see more and more QR scan codes these days in Australia.

    • Where? At Cole's Woolworths? In Australia is it still Google pay or apple pay which are nfc

  • Wow this is a big phone. Probably won't fit in my pant pocket I'm guessing.

Skinny jeans not but normal dress pants, 100 pct will fit
