How to Promote My Business on Facebook?

I'm laughably ignorant about Facebook, but I'm told I/my business should have a presence there.

Can anyone give me simple instructions how to promote my Boarding Cattery?

Thanks in advance for any help.

First off, I drive pass your business most days. It looks inviting and I always smile when I see the flag out the front.

It looks like you started a Facebook page about a month ago. All I can suggest is that you add some content that is relevant to your business by posting on a semi regular basis. Ask your clients to leave a review on your Facebook page. Maybe add a small incentive like "5% discount if you like and mention our Facebook page on booking".

Your website is a little dated and could be updated (refreshed) very easily and I suggest including a link to your Facebook page on the website.

May I suggest you get a sign out the front of your business with "now find us on Facebook". You get heaps of passing traffic so very cheap advertising.

Send me a message if you want a contact to update your website.

  • Post Daily with pictures,
Share on Personal FB and have friends share etc,
Buy post boost to push your store out to more peole

Put lots of pics of of the cats in your care on the page, have a " Client cat of the week piccy."

Please do a decent video tour with real video camera (not phone cam) highlighting what you feel are the best parts of the facility, clean cages, automatic water dispensers? etc.

Get the clients to give a reference in writing with permission to use on internet, real genuine stuff sounds munch better than the canned reviews you make yourself.

Have events on a Saturday, like a cat show, "Bring your pets" win a free bag of cat food or something, run a course on proper care of your cat, what food to give them at each different stage of development perhaps?

You need to generate enough interest with free advice that visitors bookmark both your web site and fb "Site"

      This!!

Try and bring everything online. Have bookings online, do special promotions via Facebook. Set up a Instagram page and post daily or bi-daily. If you have a young son/daughter pay them to help you do this. (Take pics each day )

Facebook has a bunch of advertising tools. Instagram has a whole “for business” side that looks pretty good.

Haven’t used them much myself but they work well from what I’ve heard.

You can also set up your Facebook page to respond to messages automatically. Eg Clients ask, what are your drop off hours, how much per day etc.

Even just linking to your relevant page on your website would be useful. If it’s a more specific question you can still individually respond but if it’s something simple and they are asking after hours a auto response could be useful and as a possible client I would find it useful.

Client of the week is a great idea. Cats simply playing and enjoying life in general (sitting in the sun, sleeping etc)

Also FYI not sure if it’s just me but if I google your business and click the website link via google maps, the site doesn’t load. If I scroll down and click on the link in search results, it works.

As a pet owner the first place I go when I look for a cattery or sitter is my vet. Someone they recommend or have heard of.
Maybe advertise in there and get them to also promote you via Facebook. If you do the same thing you could help each other.

  • Thank you for the helpful comments so far, I will work on them. But I will still welcome any other comments/hints/tips.

    • Add everyone. Join local Cat facebook groups (and non-local ones too). Facebook is social media - use it to expand your network and that way broaden the number of people who hear about your business.

  • Also, did we just OzBargain the site? It's taking foreevvverrrrrr to load. (Sorry OP if we did!)

  • I myself am just starting to learn about facebook marketing, but look into advertising and facebook pixels. If you can do it yourself, great! If not, you can look into getting someone to do it for you; but be warned, it can get fairly expensive, so always make sure to get a quota.
