Nintendo eShop 'Summer Sale', 115 Games for Switch and 3DS on Sale

1250

According to Vooks.net, Nintendo is having their biggest eShop sale yet with 115 games on sale, including many from Ubisoft, EA and WB games. There are a few first party Nintendo titles on sale for 3DS but not so much for Switch. Games must be purchased through your consoles, not through a browser, so I have linked to the Vooks article.

Probably subjective, but a few Switch deals that stand out for me are: Brawlout (Smash Bros Clone) – $18.00, was $30.00; Frederic: Resurrection of Music – $0.89, was $8.99; Her Majesty’s SPIFFING (inspired by old school adventure games) – $8.39, was $13.99; Jotun: Valhalla Edition – $10.50, was $17.50; Just Dance 2018 – $53.97, was $89.95; LEGO City Undercover – $44.97, was $89.95; Megaman Legacy Collection – $17.21, was $22.95; NBA 2K18 – $49.97, was $99.95; NBA Playgrounds – Enhanced Edition – $15.00, was $30.00; Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition – $35.97, was $59.95; Resident Evil: Revelations 2 – $18.57, was $30.95; Snake Pass – $13.00, was $26.00; South Park: The Fractured but Whole – $53.97, was $89.95; The Jackbox Party Pack– $15.75, was $31.50.

    Thoughts on worthwhile switch games?

    • +4

Just added a few that stand out for me in the description. They are:

      Brawlout (Smash Bros Clone) – $18.00, was $30.00; Frederic: Resurrection of Music – $0.89, was $8.99; Her Majesty’s SPIFFING (inspired by old school adventure games) – $8.39, was $13.99; Jotun: Valhalla Edition – $10.50, was $17.50; Just Dance 2018 – $53.97, was $89.95; LEGO City Undercover – $44.97, was $89.95; Megaman Legacy Collection – $17.21, was $22.95; NBA 2K18 – $49.97, was $99.95; Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition – $35.97, was $59.95; Resident Evil: Revelations 2 – $18.57, was $30.95; Snake Pass – $13.00, was $26.00; South Park: The Fractured but Whole – $53.97, was $89.95; The Jackbox Party Pack– $15.75, was $31.50.

      • If I was to choose three games out of this list. Which one would you recommend?

    • +1

Snake Pass - Takes a bit to get used to the controls but it is good once you do, music by David Wise.
Toki Tori 2+ - This has been cheaper on Wii U before, the devs have called it a puzzle metroidvania, but possibly better described as an anti-metroidvania.

      Minesweeper

      • The future is now, old man

        • your profile picture is weird, you must be tired after today. Let's go to sleep

    • +1

      Axiom Verge.

      Might pick up Forma.8 too

      • +2

        Only 10%?

        • Not a great discount, but the game is very good.

      • Yeah, I'm waiting for a much better discount than that myself. Already have it on steam, so can't justify this price yet. If it falls under $20 I'll end up getting it.

    • I haven't played it, but Cat Quest is a well thought of game. 'Overwhelmingly Positive' review average on Steam.

      • Cat Quest does look quite fun. Reviews say it’s a nice little RPG.

    • Furi. 100%

  • +13

Awesome! Been patiently waiting for some of these to go on special. Great selection and a wide choice of genres, time to go nuts! I’d highly recommend the following, there’s something here for everyone: Graceful Explosion Machine (reminiscent of Pixel Junk Shooter and tons of fun), Bleed 1& 2 (awesome side-scrolling actioners), Elliot Quest, Forma.8, Framed Collection, GoNNER (weird and wonderful platforming fun), Furi (hack n slash Boss battles galore), Lode Runner Legacy (rebooted old school classic with Mario Maker style Level/Character editor), Old Mans Journey (great narrative chill out game), Semblance, Slayaway Camp (bloody awesome puzzler), Lichtspeer (hilarious Germanic spear-chucking game that is perfect on Switch due to touch & traditional controls), The Adventure Pals (a must for Banjo Kazooie fans), The Coma (Japanese narrative horror game), The Way (retro style adventure with cool pixel art style), Snakepass, The Escapists 2… Too many games, not enough time - enjoy!

Man, gonna have no moola left dawg

  • -5

Big sale because hackers are starting to forge certificates and download the games without paying

    • +4

I haven't seen anything about this yet. Hope it's not the case.

    • Don't know where you're getting that from.

People have been able to pirate games directly from the eShop for 3DS for quite a while, and running homebrew and pirate games is now a thing on Switch (although still a while off from being simple and easy for everday users), but downloading pirate games from the eShop for the Switch isn't a thing (and looks to be pretty much impossible at this point).

      • although still a while off from being simple and easy for everday users

Pretty easy if they want to pay.

      • +2

Don't know where you're getting that from.

Piracy on the switch is definitely a thing. Downloading games that you do not own from the eShop on your switch or from your PC is actually very easy.

Downloading and playing ROMs (XCI or NSP) on your switch is also quite simple if you have the knowledge and tools. It's as simple as downloading the rom, placing it on your microsd card. Booting into CFW and playing the game.

        • +5

Don't know why i am getting down voted. I'm not lying when i say piracy on the switch is easy and is happening right now. I don't condone piracy at all. But it is happening and it is quite easy. Don't believe me? google "sx os" and "freeshopnx".

        • +1

@sam91: Only good for offline games. Need second Switch. No online play and no Nintendo account anymore. So need another Switch.

Also, who knows what else they will do in future to block, but yes, it's hacked now.

        • +1

@RocketSwitch: so you can't play on their soon to be paid servers that are unplayable due to connection and latency issues? Bummer.

        • @tomkun01: I have played over 120 hours of Splatoon 2 online. Not once did any match lag or suffer from issues.

Played Mario Tennis for 4 hours, noticed lag in about 2 matches.

          Paladins, 5 matches, no lag.

20 hours of Rocket League, 95% it's a great and smooth experience.

You have NO idea what you're talking about.

      • -1

Rofl clearly you have no idea what you're talking about

    • and getting the banhammer

    • -1

You're drawing a pretty long bow there mate.

Good luck to the hackers with their soon-to-be-bricked consoles too.

  • +1

Excellent timing for all of us newbies from Amazon Prime.

Also Dawn of the Breakers is a 100% free game download as of today also.

  • Is the eshop credit still on sale at Big W?

    • +2

If Toy Mania is the sale your referring to, it’s finished.

  • +10

Shout out to vooks.net. I found them through Ozbargain a year or two ago, and have since subscribed to them for their Switch eshop deals and price roundups for new games. Not every good deal they post makes it to OzBargain!

  • Puyo Puyo Tetris (Koch Media) – $29.99, was $59.99

I think this is as good as it's going to get. Thanks for the update

    • i think i might buy this…

  • +5

I was hoping for Golf story!

    • +4

Just buy it at full price. It's worth it.

      • When I sign into the eShop and search for Golf story - it shows no results. Am I doing something wrong?

        • That's rather odd. Haven't got my Switch on me to test it, but check if you have any filters on your search.

        • @choodi:

Oh you're looking on the switch? I'm just on my PC. I will check on switch when I get home. Sorry Noobie here.

        • +1

@Pab23q: Ahh, I know what happened. The Australian Switch eShop is not available on the web. The only way to see the listings in the Aus store is to go through your Switch. US (and Europe I think) have web-based stores.

        • @choodi:

OHhhhh! Thank you!!! - Makes sense now. Thanks Mate.

    • +1

      Same! And Stardew Valley!

      • I have stardew valley on steam. Fantastic game

    • Was discounted a few weeks back substantially. Definitely worth it at full price though.

    • As Pdub said, it was on sale not too long back. I grabbed it then. tbh I'm not the biggest fan, wanna swap?

    • Just finished it a little while ago. Good bit of fun. Do recommend.
Also, Aussie developers (which becomes quite obvious during the game).

      • +3

I notice there is a bridge connecting Victoria to Tassie lol

        • +1

Haha don't know why they bothered, there's nothing down there anyway. :D

  • +5

3DS games still a rip off

    • +1

      And not many.

    • +1

What do you mean, Mario Kart 7 is only a 7 year old game. That definitely should still be at full price /s

      • Its vintage now, should be DOUBLE the price!

    • +1

For the N-3DS-XL its better to jailbreak the console and get the games for free, it only costs $$ for the Sd card, pref 128GB to hold the games, I've done this for my neices and for myself. https://3ds.hacks.guide/ for details

  • No Mario games ;-(

    • +1

      Didn't read the 3ds section?

      • Can 3ds mario be played on switch?

        • +2

If you balance the 3ds carefully on it, yes

    • hahaha

  • +1

    My sad Wii U :(

  • +3

I'm very disappointed "TurtlePoop: Journey to Freedom" didn't end up being a real game … that would have been worth buying a Switch for!!

  • Just traded Resident Evil Revelations on 3DS. Lost my N3DSXL (blame the baby) a while back and replaced with a cheap 2DS, game is nowhere near as fun without the second stick.

EB pay 6, then add my 20% bringing it to 7.20, then the Fortnite trade deal (yes, it's still on) brought it to 22.50 toward Nintendo eShop credit… Revelations on Switch is now on sale for just under 15, straight up got paid to upgrade my copy.

  • Hmms still no star dew valley on sale 😢.

  • A lot here that's good value.

  • Urban trial underground is fun. Just bought for $30 the other day 🙄

  • Which Jackbox Party Pack is on sale? I have 3 and 4 but wouldn't mind a few more.

    • +1

The first jackbox pack is on sale

  • +6

I find Nintendo doesn't discount their games enough, even when it's years after release. Not looking forward to the totally digital future.

    • +3

The 'discounted' prices are often more than a physical copy. Rayman certainly is.
Eshop is best avoided wherever possible, its just plain anti-consumer compared to cart releases.

    • If someone can do a comparison on games on that which eShop copy is cheaper would be great

  • +2

TurtlePoop: Journey to Freedom is a really, really awesome typo.

  • happen to have some eshop credits i don't use.. hit me up if anyone is interested.

  • +12

I'd recommend The Adventure Pals. As I'm one of the developers on it :)

40% Is the biggest discount we've done so far, so a good deal!

Great game for casual gamers & to play with a significant other.

    • +1

Reminds me of Battleblock Theatre, which I love, so I'll give it a go

      • Awesome thanks :D

        • are you happy with game sales figures?

    • Looks like a great game!!

    • Bought it… Good to support oz. Now it'll be left unplayed for months with today's other purchases :)

    • looks good, purchased :)

  • +3

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is on sale as well - $15.60, normally $26. I got a notification from NintyPricer.

  • +5

FYI, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is currently on sale (30% off) at Japanese eshop store, so as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. Axiom Verge is 10% off at Norway store. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is 40% off at our Aussie store. These four games are really good for playing with your friends OR partner!

    • +1

If you buy the games from those regions - will they work here without any problems?

      • +5

Yep, you just need to set up an account for that region on your console and download the game with that account; it will then be playable with any account on your console.

        • Ahhh ok - cheers :)

        • Ok for a new Japanese account I need to put in fake details where I live in Japan and give them another email. So do you search for the game Japanese then? Any tips to do that?

  • Today's purchases https://s22.postimg.cc/qf13edpe9/done.png

In addition to a couple the other day too. I STILL have too much money on the account to be able to apply my left over EB eShop cred from the Fortnite deal. Hot (profanity) damn.

  • I am looking at my XBox account with a number of purchases… (I don't own any XBox anymore)…
And my PSN account with a number of PS3 purchases and $50+ credit left… (I don't own any PS anymore)…
And some WiiU eShop purchases… I still own WiiU but don't use it much since I got Switch…

Switch eShop purchase? Yeah!!! Count me in…
    Again.
    Realy…

  • I highly recommend Hammerwatch and Resident Evil: Revelations 2, am playing these at the moment and they are great.

  • +1

Waiting for Wednesday's 15% off Nintendo eShop cards before I buy some games sitting on my "maybe" list from this sale :P

    • What would you recommend?

  • +1

i was hoping for overcooked :( with number 2 coming out so close, you would think they would get people hyped for it!
