ALDI Mobile Android App- Has Been Broken for Months!

Hello all,

Anyone else have issues with the Aldi Mobile app for android?

For me, it has been broken for months (across multiple phones and Android versions). Looking at the reviews on the play store, it seems I'm not the only one:

This app is so basic. Often doesnt open. It is so hard to determine how much data you have left, one field has data allowance, which is always a different figure and straight undernearth there is a field saying data remaining which says zero even thought I have data! No access to see usage history. Terrible app.

10/7/18 update- issues remain unsolved, I think Aldi has abandoned this app. 3/4/18 update- Login issues still present, can't log into app over WiFi, says there is a network connection issue when every other app is working perfectly and I'm browsing the web. This is a joke. Won't work over wifi, keeps forgetting username/password. Basically useless at present.

Have to login in everytime. If you forget the password, you have to enter your DOB, no problem except you can only change to date one month at a time and when your age is more than 20 years from the default you have to hit the arrow over 240 times. Come on developers, that is ridiculous!

It used to work okay, but for 3 weeks now it tells me there was a network connection error. It wants me to try later, but it has never worked since. What is the problem??? Please fix and let users know how to open and use it.

I've emailed their feedback a number of times but haven't really had a response.

Could some ozbargainers that use Aldi Mobile and are on Facebook get some attention with this on their Facebook page (I'm not a Facebook user, but it appears that these days its the best way to get anything done with big companies).

I tried this a while ago and it wasn't that great. Just tried the website again and it is a lot better now. Will use this as a workaround, thanks for the tip.

      • You can also log into multiple accounts/numbers from there.

  • No problems here. Shows my balance fine. It's not even on the phone with the SIM.

    • Yep, works no problem here.

  • I have no issues. App is very basic, shows correct balance. Haven't tried to recharge inside the app. What exactly is broken in your case?

    • Basically, the app refuses to work on wifi- constantly complains of network problems and won't log in, even though there's nothing wrong with the wifi networks I use, and every other app works fine.

As a workaround, I can disable wifi and it works on 3G / 4G. But if I forget to disable wifi and open the app, the app itself forgets my account number / password and I need to re-enter them.

      • If I didn't read the title I'd have thought you were describing the Optus app on surly day.

  • My only issue with this app on Android is if you run out of data on the phone the app no longer functions at all making it impossible to add a data pack on the go unless you can find free wifi or similar.

  • Just auto recharge each month then don't need use the app.

  • Can be a bit buggy in terms of needing to restart it sometimes, but on the whole it has been fine for me using a Xiaomi RN4. Very pleased with Aldi mobile, better coverage than Optus (Sydney metro) and cheaper too, not too different price wise from what the Optus resellers offer but a better service..

  • Looks like they've just released a major update to the app, and these issues are solved (for me at least).
