Sonic Mania was fantastic, but honestly, I never had a problem with the two Sonic 4 games. I enjoyed the shit out of them on the old Xperia Play way back when.
Also the two of them worked out cheaper than the one copy of Mania, and featured way more original content.
Just an opinion, hopefully going free might earn these games some redemption and much deserved new love.
