Looking for a Cheap Parking/Hacks near Melbourne Free Tram Zone for a Day Tour

I usually go to Melbourne CBD by train (work) or sometimes if I bring my car, I usually go to QV parking which costs me $12-14 but it’s during weekends. Next week, some of my friends from NZ will visit us and I’m looking for a cheap parking during weekdays (Monday and Tuesday) near Queen Victoria Market or near the free tram zone. Will spend 4-5 hours roaming around the city. Any pro tips?

  • West Melbourne and walk to vic market

  • All day (weekday) parking at QV is flat rate $19 if you spend $1 or more at QV.

  • Carpark at the corner cardigan/grattan st (old women's hospital carpark) is $13 all day earlybird parking, about 10-15min walk to queen vic from there?

  • +2

Parking in the city is actually quite cheap if you book in advance and get in during the early bird times. When I worked in the city, I used Wilson Parking or Secure Parking and just picked whatever was close and cheap. From memory, it was around $15 per day if I booked in advance with the online discount and came before the early bird time.

From memory, the early bird time is until 10AM, but if you book online for entry at 10AM, you can actually enter up to one hour later than that, so you can actually still get in at around 11AM with the earlybird price.

  • Crown Casino multilevel parking, walk up to tram corner of Flinders and Spencer Streets to get on City Circle and/or free CBD trams to/from Queen Vic markets and city sights
