  • Is it any good? I’m looking for a quality beard trimmer.

    • Had this for probably close to a year now, certainly recommend. Never misses a beat.

      • For trimming a beard, what does it do that a cheaper one won't?

        • +4

Compared to a cheaper one, this trims another $140 from your bank balance.

    • For me it's super inconsistent and patchy. Could be my beard but I got annoyed with it after 9 months. In fact got a Wahl to replace this today. IMO not worth the money

  • I have this and can recommend it highly. I got sick of ingrown hairs and thought I'd give this a go. Tried regular razors ages ago and found they were no good for me. Was then eventually using top of the range Braun shavers or a Philips Vacuum beard trimmer but then switched to this in 2018. The Braun wasn't terrible but every now and again I got really bad ingrown hairs. I then started trying to use balms, powders and oils with slight improvement. I then saw this and thought I'd give it a try. I bought a second of these trimmers within a month or two of my first because I started to worry that it may get discontinued, given that only one company makes it, only Shaver Shop has it in Australia and the internal battery is not replaceable. No-one else seems to have developed this technology/style of trimmer it seems. After looking for international sellers I found a German company with a name that doesn't really translate that well that sells it, and is probably the manufacturer, but VS sells this probably under license in other countries due to bran recognition. It does a great job. You just have to invest a few minutes into your trim each time because its not a machine you use in a traditional up/down motion. It recommends a range of motions including circles etc. to make sure you are capturing each contour of your face and hair direction. I actually fear any other blade touching my face now. The blade is just that little bit extra further away from your skin so it does not cut low enough to cause collateral damage. Not everyone has a problem with ingrown hairs and can get the job done with a cheap, rusty razor or electric shaver in 30 seconds but I know for sure that I'm better off spending 3-6 minutes using this. Just a word of caution though if you have the same ingrown hair problem - don't use the included separate AA battery powered portable shaver, only the reverse trimmer head if you must. I really regretted that and my face paid for it for a little while. To sum up, well worth the outlay but I'm hoping the lithium battery will last for a long time and I can always get a replacement.
