    Deja Vu

  • Thanks OP!

  • Doesn't work for me

  • This only seems to work on the au site, not the uk site

    • Yeah that worked

  • Does this mean stuff is delivered from within Australia?

    • +6

Pretty sure the products are shipped from overseas even when ordering from the Sports Direct Australia website

    • +1

      Nope, comes from the UK

  • +3

I hate Mike Ashley, but I like bargains. What to do?

    • +13

      Rafa, is that you?

      • +4

Haha, I'm not even a Newcastle fan, just frustrated that they could be good if they didn't have such a greedy owner.

        • +2

I am tempted to get the newcastle hoodie since it is only 20 bucks

  • +1

I can only see standard delivery from $9.99 quoted. Is that a reduced rate with the coupon code?

    • Make sure you are in Australian Site.

      • Pick any product and select the delivery tab - that's where it is quoted. (on au website using OP's links)

      • -2

Yup I just got screwed with that. I bought a pair of shoes, picked my size and the size that turned up was UK size. Nowhere on the size area does it mention that and infact I cant find it anywhere that the size listed is UK size.

  • Is gst added on purchases?

    • No
      Included

  • +1

Grrrr. Just ordered a bunch of things yesterday. :-(

  • +5

Everyone in our office is Ozbargainer.
I'm sure we'll end up wearing the same shirt to work someday.

    • Pierre Cardin, Lee Cooper, Dunlop or Slazenger lol

  • +1

Some of these English models need a freaking tan.

  • 10% GST?

Placed a few orders with SportsDirect here are my experiences:

1: Nike Blue Tanjun Kids trainers: They cancelled the order over a month ago but have yet to refund or clear the pre authorisation placed on my account. Countless emails but it is all falling on deaf ears and no responses besides the generic response that it should clear up in 5 business days. Hold is still there to this day, we are talking since 27th of June.
    2. Ordered a bunch of clothes, they arrived in a black plastic bag (like your bin bags). The bag had been tossed around in its voyage from the UK to Australia and arrived with multiple tears all over. Had a pair of pants missing. Of the hoodies one arrived with rust stains. When I emailed them, no response was received so raised a paypal case. I was told I am lying on the missing item but 'this time they have sent it again'. No mention of the issue with the rusted one and what they will do with that one. Overall, all items ordered always arrive pretty banged up and in most cases with torn bags/boxes so be mindful if they are gifts.

Customer service is very poor and a total lack of regard for customer service is a major issue with these guys.

    • +2

You are absolutely right. If anything goes wrong, there is hardly any chance to get it fixed due to their appalling customer service.
I had an issue with them a couple of years ago. They sent wrong item. Said that would refund. It didn't happen. I contacted them, they said that would apply credit. Didn't happen. I contacted again, they said, that when I order something I'd need to contact them and then they would apply credit. When I wanted to place an order, I contacted them and received a reply that they don't have any records of any credit. I didn't want to waste more time on corresponding with them and just gave up in the end and wrote off $8.

I made ozbargain account just because i feel compelled to warn people about sportsdirect. What parallelparadox said is spot on. I am currently in the situation number 2.
I ordered 10 items. Delivered after about 10 working days. The parcel arrived in black plastic bag like rubbish bin liner. When i opened it excitedly, i noticed 3 items are missing. I emailed them immediately and it took roughly 3 days for the customer service team to respond to me. What she asked me to begin the investigation, was an image of the whole black parcel when it first arrived. Obviously, as i opened it 3 days before she replied my email, i chucked the black plastic away. I sent her all the items i received with their tags still in tact to her. She then sent me a missing items disclaimer forms, which i think is basically to make you declare that you are not lying. What pisses me off of the form is their statement “if the form is not completed within 7 days, we would assume that you have received the items”.
After i replied her with the filled in form, she said she would resent the items and they should arrive wiithin 10 working days. A moment after i received that email, i got another email saying that one of the missing item is now cancelled and won’t be resent, because they are out of stock. So, again, i sent another email asking what would happen with that cancelled item. When would i receive the refund for it. It has been 2 days and i still have not heard back yet.

So, it may be a bargain, but, please be very aware if you still decide to purchase items from them, the risk of your parcel delivery being botched is there and is real. This is the first time i have issue with online shopping. Once i got all this resolved, i definitely not going to purchase from sportsdirect anymore.

      • I am thinking of commenting on their facebook. They will surely feel it there.

        https://www.facebook.com/SportsDirect/

      • Sorry, i just realised i made a typo that could cause misunderstanding…..
I meant to say “i sent her THE IMAGE of all the 7 items i received with the tags still in tact.”
I did not actually send the items i received back to them.

    • Yep there customer service is poor.
Have purchased a lot from them. Never returned anything it’s not worth time or cost.

  • +5

DO NOT BUY FROM SPORTS DIRECT. If you want to try just buy 1 or 2 clothes. I ordered my first lot of 22 items and i repent. The parcel box was not secured and open tapes. Clotes were just thrown in loose. All items looks like fakes. The prices are so cheap that it makes you buy more but beware 99% is shi..

    • When you order from them you play the lottery. Some items are good, some are total rubbish. Some are wrong size (despite the label showing correct size), some are fine.

    • +8

think thats a bit of an exaggerated statement. I think you should never buy that quantity from any online retailer for a first order.

I've made about 10+ orders and Pierre Cardin (will never order again) was probably the worst. Every item from Karrimors has been amazing quality, Lee Cooper (jackets mostly, good hits), and branded stuff (Nike, Under Armor) have been great - if they are fakes, they have been damn good. Shoes have been awesome and really reasonably priced (only 1 dud out of like 5 and that was due to incorrect sizing by the manufacturer imo bit small to the size). I'm well ahead on all counts

    • -1

I ordered NB shorts and tees..seemed like fake..i thought they would be selling legit stuff?

      • +2

I've been to their physical stores and everything I saw was definitely genuine.

        • +1

I actually think a lot of their gear is probably factory seconds or end of life stock which is usually heavily discounted (80-90% off).

        • @pixxelpusher: Hmm, definitely not the stock in-store. The Under Armor and Nike gear I looked at was either the same price or only slightly cheaper than the official UA and Nike stores in the same shopping center. They do have sales now and then though; they would then be maybe 20% cheaper than the official stores.

Lots of what I saw was current-season stuff, the same as the official stores. They did have some older lines too, but it wasn't full of them like a factory outlet.

Maybe the problem is everyone here only looks at the sale items on the website, which would probably be the end of line items people are talking about.

    • +2

Thes guys are owned by Mike Ashley https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Ashley_(businessman), a massive billionaire personality, former owner of Newcastle United football club and are the biggest sports retailer in the UK. I have literally ordered a jacket from my PC here in Oz and selected in-store pickup to be collected by me a few days later in their high street shop in Glasgow in the UK. When you go to their stores in the UK they are traditional Bricks and mortar shops! Some of their low-end stuff is own brand rubbish, I wouldnt buy that but the name brand stuff like Nike etc is the same stuff you would buy anywhere else. I would be beyond amazed if a company as big as these guys was selling fakes and not being sued beyond an inch of their lives by every lawyer in the UK.

      • +1

former owner of Newcastle United football club

That would make a lot of people happy! Unfortunately I believe he's still the owner

  • In all honesty, i wouldn't fully trust this site.

It is a bargain sport/outdoor clothing store at the end of the day.

Especially because it is overseas, customer service would be terrible

The being said, i would buy anything under 50 bucks here as it would be low risk.

  • +4

I've ordered hundreds of dollars worth of clothes and shoes from these guys in separate orders without issue.
Yes the packaging is terrible, but their stuff is so cheap and can't complain with $2 shipping

    • +1

There is no evidence of them supplying fakes. That is quite a serious accusation.

    • +2

But you DID neg the deal…

  • +1

I recently ordered 2 pairs of kids Adidas shoes, 2 pairs of trackpants for me and a hoodie for my son. One pair of shoes looked like floor stock as it had a bit of dirty markings on the sole. Didn’t bother me. One of the track pants (Everlast) was horrible. Material was so stiff It was like hard plastic. Couldn’t even bend my knees lol. Everything else was great. Yeah packaging wasn’t great but ASOS is similar. I’ll be ordering some more stuff with this sale.

  • Thanks OP

  • -2

Sub standard products. That's why they are cheap.

  • -1

Isn’t this discount code normal for all clothes on this site?
Same as FW20 works for all shoes?
    I don’t see the bargain

    • Sort of..

    • Does code FW20 works?
      I tried but no go

      • +1

I think they usually alternate - if CL20 is working then FW20 doesn't. If CL20 isn't, then FW20 usually does. Don't remember seeing them both at once before, but could be wrong

  • +2

I have so far placed 2 orders with these guys from their UK site. Both orders have been for the Lonsdale fleece pants, and they’ve been great.

I personally stick to small quantity orders which would give them less of a chance to stuff it up.

  • I have only placed one order and was very happy. Pair of Nike basketball shoes which were half the price of local shops.

  • Where can I use CL20? Nowhere to type in.

    • +1

At your payment type there should have a tab showing "promotion codes" or something like that

      • I found it. Thanks.!!!

  • Have got a few orders with these guys. Football and sport gears, all great, except for the packaging.

  • Ordered a down jacket - very cheap XL - arrived and is probably XS - almost a child size. Too expensive to send back. Socks said cotton rich but so acrylic. First and last order.

  • Thanks OP.

  • +1

Well , from my experience It is the best one I have dealt with recently. Quality is first class , delivery with Toll , sizes fits perfectly.

  • Never had any issues when ordering from them in the past. My first order did turn up in a black plastic bag but nothing was damaged.

Sometimes a bit hard to know the sizings but that can happen with online buying anyways.

  • Great, again, time to stock up more gym clothes!

  • I'm wearing of buying from them again. horrible customer support.

I buy shoes by EU sizing (can we all agree that EU sizing is just a far superior method?) and the sizes they show correlate to US sizes when compared to EU. But they will still send UK sized shoes which will be 1 size smaller than the listed EU size. When i messaged them about that i got no reply, and then after a while i put in a paypal dispute, I was ruled against and would have had to pay more for the return shipping that the refund amounted to.

  • For any skiers, there aer some good deals on ski clothes. I just kitted myself out with some new Helly Hansen stuff. i would avoid the Nevica and No fear stuff, Ashley bought those brands and converted them into 'own brand' cheapo rubbish by all accounts, that's why they are so cheap! Pretty sure the Branded stuff is the same stuff that is selling for much more in various aussie ski shops!

  • Mixed feelings with Sportsdirect.
2 out of 3 orders have been good (1 had a single item, 1 had 3). However when I had a larger order (5+ items) it mysteriously never arrived and all attempts to track it down have been unsuccessful.

Their jerseys and kit are on point also but the packaging is dreadful.

  • One of my mates ordered from this mob. His trackies and hoodie were in a garbage bag

One of the trackies were a lighter colour. When he held them up there was brown skid marks on the arse

Took him 6 months of emailing to get a refund

    • Took him 6 months of emailing to get a refund

Going via paypal might have been easier and quicker.

  • Have done a few orders with them. Last time I did an order was the free soccer ball. Ended up buying more than just the free ball. They couldn't fulfill the order so they ended up cancelling and refunding the money. I didn't have to chase anything up and the money was in the bank a few days of the notice. Every other time I have received my orders with no problems.

  • I bought a couple of backpacks from this recent deal.

    2 for AU$10.34 delivered . nice

    unfortunately price has gone up.

  • Just placed an order 4 items totalling $122. Fingers crossed I don’t get cucked by them.

  • Ordered some clearance shorts a few months ago. They arrived fine - still attached to the original hangers from the store! Thought that was amusing.

  • Would you guys recommend we still buy from the NZ site for sportdirect? Does anyone know if GST will be added, because that would kill the extra 10% we normally save.

Edit: Scratch that, looks like the NZ prices now price in an extra 10%, i.e. $10 pants are now $11 on the NZ site.

  • +2

For delivery from the UK for $2, I'm not sure what people were expecting the items to be delivered in other than black plastic.

  • Hi guys did they up the delivery fees? I cant see the 1.99 anymore

    • I'm seeing $9.99 delivery as well

  • Definitely not getting $1.99 delivery.

    2 items $104.00
    Delivery $23.99

    • Even though it says $9.99 in the FAQ, when you proceed to the payment, delivery fee comes to some astronomical figure. For me, it came to £34 or $68 !!!

  • Seems CL20 code no longer works???

  • Wow! Delivery now shows as £34.00 (for £104 worth of cloths)!!!
And the code doesn't work anymore! Something weird is happening on their website.

  • There are too many things which has gone wrong at SportsDirect:

    • Delivery fee has gone up. And even though it says £5 (A$9.99) in the FAQ, when you proceed to the payment, delivery fee comes to some astronomical figure.
For instance, for me it came to £34 (or A$68) !!!
    • The discount code stopped working almost 2 days earlier than they advertised.
    • Their exchange rate is crazy £1 = A$2, when the actual rate is approx. £1 = A$1.74. Would be stupid to buy in AUD from them.

Obviously, not buying anything from them.

  • Yup code shows as invalid now

  • now delivery is $9.99

  • Ski Clothes arrived today in a plastic bag, one still had the coathanger still attached. Absolutely genuine stuff. As I ordered a ski jacket and pants, arriving in a plastic bag was not an issue. I bought Jacket and pants for less than a comparable pair of pants alone would cost me here in Oz!!
