Need Help Finding Career

First-time post, Just wondering if theirs a service where people can find out what your interests are and your experience so they can help you find your career, I'm 28 years old and have been in the finance industry for 4 years now.
I work for a bank and bring in new business for them so my role is a BDM. Long story short I've been there for around 6 months, I don't think it for me but I think I'm really good at finding new business.

Recruiters don't help majority have been misleading and don't want to talk to you if you not ready to shave off 50k off your salary.

Do you know of a service or someone who is willing to actually listen and help? I really want my next role to be one for a long time.

"if you not ready to shave off 50k off your salary"

You may wish to check some other agencies out…

I worked in Finance (banking, wealth management) for 10 years.

The BDM roles are highly sought after and well paid.

You are in a place many would kill to be in.

    • Life's not always about the money, some may seek happiness in the kind of work they do.
I would suggest the OP to take a deeper look in their life, that this isnt just some repulsive behaviour from the monotonous work they might be doing.

If you are sure it isnt ^, i would suggest simple Myers test to see the kind of personality you are and then finding work around that personalty type(probably in the finance field).
Also connect with professionals in different fields you might be interested in, they will be able to guide you better.
Just know its never too late to change your career, best of luck.

      • some may seek happiness in the kind of work they do.

I think this was the point - BDM is one of the less soul-killing roles in finance. At the same time, I can't tell if OP doesn't like working in BDM completely, or they don't mind BDM but don't like their exact situation at the moment (whether it be the company, managers, co-workers, etc).

I would have thought the head hunters would be an obvious place to start. If you say they want to shave your current salary by 50k the it suggests to me you are already well/over paid so why not milk your present job for as long as you can? Otherwise just accept a hair cut to start again in a new career.

    • I feel i may be over paid, because i'd ruther be happy then to be earning a load of money in something i dont feel like makes me happy. Being in a bank these days is different espically trying to win business for home loans. with all the royal commision stuff happening it has made it very hard to hit targets.

i'm open to shave off what im currently earning but not 50k, think about it for a sec 50k is alot of money these days.

      • unless you can get a job as a beer or chicken nugget taster, its quite possible you'll never be happy with your job, so if you can do one that pays a lot you can get some happiness in other parts of your life. believe me, when you hate your job, and you get paid shit, you don't have much of a reason to live

Google "career advisor" and look up a couple of the results - recruiters are only interested in finding people to fill vacancies on their books, they're not an advisory service.
Also, do a bit of soul searching. What do you like about your current role? What do you dislike about it? Is there a job or career path in which you could do the bits you enjoy, without the bits you don't like?
