Sim Card for Hawaii Recommendations Please

We will be flying in to Honolulu on the 22nd, and within a few hours flying through to Kona, on the big island.
It'll be my wife and I and another couple, so we need two sims because we sometimes go our seperate ways. We will also be flying back to Oahu for a week before coming home.

So the questions are-
Which carrier for coverage on those two islands.
What's the best deal with plenty of data and a reasonable amount of calls.
Can we get the sim cards at either airport or are we better off paying a premium to have them before we leave?

Also, happy to hear from anyone who has done this trip!

Thanks in advance.

  • Been to Honolulu for business. Have a look at this.

But they are available at limited places only. So you may arrange delivery to your hotel.

    Otherwise, pre-order through simcorner.

Simcorner is good for pre-order. While it might cost a little bit more from Simcorner - it is nice just popping the SIM in while you wait to disembark rather than trying to find a shop that will sell you the SIM.

When we were in Hawaii last year, the start of our trip was in Hilo on the Big Island via Honolulu. We just caught an Uber when arrived in Hilo to the local Walmart and picked up a SIM from there without any problems. At the store they had cards for all of the networks and they offered the best deal for the time we were there.

A Sim card on arrival in Hawaii wasn't a must for us and it was already planned to have a trip to Walmart/Shopping Centre at the first opportunity, to stock up with snacks and supplies (we travelled with kids).

There is a $30+tax sim plan for tourists. We got ours from T-Mobile at Ala Moana shopping centre and they set it all up for us

  • Thanks for the replies.
We're picking up a car at the airport after we land, so we'll go straight to Walmart and pickup a sim card.
Looking forward to driving a yank tank on the wrong side of the road! 😂
