I opened up the Google Play Books app and switched to the audiobooks tab and there was a large banner offering '$5 off your first audiobook (of more than $5 in value)'
This was on my account where I do have purchases of apps and books.
On my second account which I use only for email the offer was '$10 off your first audiobook'.

Apologies if too similar to headphonejack's deal. There is no mention of $5 off in that deal or it's comments so this one may work for those had no luck there.

If you get a few audiobooks, cheaper if you go through audible. Much prefer their app too. If your are after just one then this is a good deal. I got one a while back when they introduced it, and gave one audiobook for free.
