  • I hope it is not only your store. Missed the movie at cinema, so i cant wait to watch in 4k

    • +1

It was cropped into 2.39:1, not the imax ratio you saw in the cinema. This is a big disappointment imop.

    • +7

I just watched it. I hope you've only recently watched EVERY marvel movie before it, because it's a mess.

Probably most important that you watch the most recent Captain America movie, followed by recent Thor. Without those fresh in mind you probably be as confused as I was. This movie really can't be enjoyed as a stand alone movie.

Otherwise, it's pretty good. Some characters are exhausting to listen to comedy wise though.

      • who negged salamando? he is correct. need to watch those movies plus maybe the guardian of the galaxy also.

        • +12

I didn't but maybe its because he called it a mess, which it isn't.

        • +1

@Where's_That_Cake: It's a mess if you haven't watched all the recent marvel movies.
Lots of shit going on, kind of like batman vs superman.

        • @idonotknowwhy:
I don't know so much, my father in law took my son to see it (for the umpteenth time) and he enjoyed it. He wasn't sure if he'd seen another Marvel movie but he knew some of the characters and said he enjoyed it a lot more than some of the other movies he'd took the kids to see.

        • @Where's_That_Cake:
It is good, and the characters are recognisable, but it's 100% a continuation movie. I guess I forgot the end of the last Thor movie, because the movies started in the middle of something it failed to explain.

Took me about an hour to understand what happened with the hulk.

Guess I forgot why half the avengers aren't talking to each other. Didn't know vision had a human form, was with the witch girl, or that the stone in his head was 100% related to the plot.

It just jumped around too much without any explaining.
Very much like Batman vs Superman - except the context can be found, but in previous movies.

I think the biggest problem is, it doesn't continue from the 2nd avengers - it seems to continue from the last Captain America movie, and also Thor I guess

        • +1

@Salmando: yeah this is one of the "trunk/main" story movies following the Galaxy V2, Thor Ragnarok and Civil War. Unlike Ant Man, Black Panther are "branch/side" story movies. Age of Ultron is followed by Civil War I think? You do need to know what happened back then to truly enjoy it.

        • -2

@Where's_That_Cake: yes you did because you're THAT kid.

        • @neofelis: sick burn bro, you're so frikkin cool.

      • +8

The story is essentially one dude trying to fill his glove with a bunch of stones and a bunch of other dudes trying to stop him. What exactly is there to be confused about? The action sequences were a lot of fun though, I had a great time watching all the interactions play out.

      • +4

The best part is how most of the most powerful stones in the galaxy end up on earth or in possession of someone related to earth.

10/10 would watch cosmic coincidence again.

        • +4

I mean, 2/6 stones were on Earth and one of those was stolen from an Asgardian, so maybe not that big a cosmic coincidence? ;)

      • +17

It's the 19th movie in a series, and one that is intended to bring prior events to a conclusion. Needing to know what happened in the prior movies does not make this one "a mess".

        • +3

Needing to know what happened in the prior movies does not make this one "a mess".

So much this, it's illogical to say that. Considering how many story lines and characters they had to fit in this movie, they did an absolutely fine job. If anything I wish it was longer though.

      • Don't forget Black Panther! Otherwise half the movie is also set someplace you won't understand fully

      • I'd suggest you watch Guardians Of The Galaxy 1 and 2 as well.

  • Not to be a prick, but did you can't how much the 3D version was by any chance?

Missus has recently had squint surgery on her eyes and can finally see 3D again so it would be nice to get some use out of the 3D TV.

  • +4

JB also usually put their movies out a few days before the official release date

    • Yep, picked up a copy from JB. They price matched BigW fine.

    • +1

I remember when WoW: Wrath of the Lich King came out - The day before EB's midnight release I walked into Big W and grabbed a copy from a shelf full of 'em. Needless to say my gaming chums who were planning to go to the midnight release were pissed :P

  • +14

Probably released early since its been on the internet for almost a week already?

    • +2

Yeah I downloaded it last week.

      • +1

        Same

        • +7

Rupert Merderock might raid us and put us into gaol

        • +7

I wouldn’t say worst movie ever.
It did make over $2 billions dollars at the box office so it has something going for it.

        • +7

To each their own, but you're wrong.

        • -6

I'm with you, it was a mess. Like watching Batman vs Superman - visually stunning, but all over the place with plot

        • @Salmando: please don't group Infinity War with BvS

        • @Salmando: The problem is you and your expectation that a movie which is supposed to be a 2 part book end to 10 years worth of movies is supposed to be digestible as a stand-alone movie.

        • Do you find that people often pretend to sleep when in your company?

        • I see your opinion, but I'm going to mark it as [ X ] Wrong

  • +1

Is an amazing movie. I'm not much of a critic when it comes to movies though.

    • +3

i mean it might've been a good super hero movie, but hardly scores outside of that category.

  • +1

Thought about buying the 4k version but tv upscales anyway and I dont have a 4k player.

  • +2

$35 is a bit much for a disc. Will wait for JB BOGOF + 20% off and get it for $12ish

    • +1

      you'll be waiting a while

  • +10

Will wait for JB BOGOF + 20% off and get it for $12ish

Infinity War 2 will be out by then…

    • Nothing confirmed yet but the title is apparently 'End Game'

  • Waiting for steelbook. Source told me it should be out today 13/08 in JB.

  • Is $35 best price for 4k?

    • +1

Unless someone who is a Woolies employee can get it for you. Big W now has 10% discount for staff. Would bring it down to $31.50.

      • I thought woolies staff discount doesn’t work with big w anymore?

        • No you might be thinking of fuel discounts or rewards points.
Definitely get 10% off. Only recently changed from 5

        • @AusGreenLantern:

Lol I didn’t even know, was too bad my local big w wasn’t selling 4K so I got the Steelbook from JB

      • 10% staff discount at woolies??? IS this a permanent thing? I didnt get that memo

        • Permanent. They sent out email to let you know that you would get new staff discount card in early Sep. Along with the new card will be 10% off from BigW, which already started.

          Edit: Not Woolies, only BigW

    • +1

Or buy discounted Wish egift card through Cashrewards a few hours before you visit the store.
      5% off

  • Available at Target as well, same price.

    DC movies are better

    • +23

      Said no one ever.

      • +3

I'm not a DC fan. Can't feel for their 2 dimensional OP characters. But I'd honestly like to see a good DC movie. Shazam! looks promising.

    • Lol. That is all.

    • +1

Not really. Character development is a bit shallow.

    • LOL

    • LOL. DC fanboys are literally on another planet when it comes to taste.

    • To be honest, I havent finished any single movies from DC, but I can rewatch every single movies from Marvel more than twice. I normally do Marvel Marathon when they release new movies.

  • whats the specials you get on the blu ray? is there an extended version?

    • you got more blues

      and

      rays…

  • Is this not RRP?

    • RRP is $39 or something? Damn I paid $36.95 preordered from Amazon AU and haven't been shipped yet

  • Sony had this on their online store last week.

  • thanoswasright

    • I could definitely see his side of the argument and the non-prejudice behind his methods.

      I might be #teamthanos

    • Spoiler alert. Do not read unless you've seen the movie. Struck through text is a spoiler. You've been warned!

Instead of removing 50% of the population, why not just double (or even triple) the universe's resources with his magic glove and everyone lives in prosperity?

      • Because the stones are destructive nature instead of constructive nature. And super hero movies love to bring us disasters.

      • +1

He literally says the universe is finite.

      • Simply because because he's a bad guy. A jerk, a "mad titan". He didn't want to double resources. He killed his daughter to get a stone, why would he help anyone?

  • +2

Ye shall wait till 4k prices drop to $20, aint adding to my pile of shame.

    • I agree JB seem to often have 30% off deals on 4K movies. Just need to wait.

  • Already have the digital version (Xbox), I'm tempted to double dip and get a physical copy (that I would then rip and put on my tablet and external hdd to watch on a media player lol). That said I may hold off and wait for a price drop (by the time Ms Marvel is released or IW part 2 next year).

Movie itself is great - was growing tired of the Marvel formula. Thanos is awesome!

  • Got mine arriving from Amazon - got it for free because they screwed up another order.

    • +1

What?! How? Did they just "sorry I screwed up one of your orders and here is your free Avengers Infinity war 4K movie"?

  • -3

    Lol, $35 bargain

  • +1

Used to run a few Blockbuster stores back in the day… Anyone can start selling or renting it the week of release. The date is just when all stores will have it by. Very rare that the exact date is kept.

    • +1

I think things have changed since blockbusters brah

      • They still follow the same policies brah… Selling it or renting there's no difference to what the studio guidelines are for that.

        • Sorry, rereading my post I come across as a dick. I just don't understand why they would have that policy and if so why we don't see this happen with every movie release? It seems to me that in the last five years or so movies and games have both tightened up on release dates to the point that stores get in trouble with the distributors for selling a product early.

        • +1

@Where's_That_Cake: You really had to re-read your post to discover you sound like a dick?

Here's a tip (no pun) if you use the word 'brah' anytime, anywhere you will sound like a dick.

        • @Noobist45: why's that brah? Me and a couple of buds have been using it for weeks with eachother brah. Ironically joining in a conversation just to call someone a dick is also a dick thing to do btw brah.

  • Wow 35 for a 4k is an awful lot, thats almost double xtremescreen screen ticket prices
