Vic Roads Licence Renewal - which address is it sent to?

I have both a residential and a postal address on file with Vic Roads, and am curious which they will post a renewed licence to, as my residential one outside of the mail delivery area.

Has anyone renewed theirs recently who also has two addresses recorded and can answer which received the licence?

Cheers OzB's!

Cool story bro. And your drivers license?

      • My licence gets sent to my Postal Address, every 10 years or so.

as my residential one outside of the mail delivery area.

What does that even mean ?

It’ll go to your postal. If you aren’t sure… call them.

You're not aware that Aus Post don't deliver to every house everywhere?

Tried to call and their call centre was experiencing a "heavy load" and recommending trying again later before disconnecting me.

You're not aware that Aus Post don't deliver to every house everywhere?

Yes they do. If you get express, 80% of Australia is covered.

        Where do you live?

        • No they don't - I live in one of them - you don't have a clue.

You Victorians still have paper licenses?

    • in NSW when you get a new licence they give you a paper copy and mail out the photo licence. They've saved a bunch of money of fancy printers at each office and now do it centrally then mail.

      • Same in Victoria…

  • Your residential address is where you live.

Your postal address is where they send stuff to.

Yes, in an ideal world this is exactly how it should work. But years of experience dealing with banks and telcos has taught be otherwise, especially when a PO box is involved, hence my question here.

So you want someone to predict if they'll be accurate or inept?

Your postal address is your postal address. If they're posting something, guess where it gets sent…

No, I'm curious if anyone has recently had theirs incorrectly delivered, but thank for your helpful reply - here's a koala stamp for your effort: ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

        • @dm01: that's not a stamp. that's an ascii emoticon.

@kevkay: I stamped on the keys to type it in, so close enough for my intended purpose.

I just called VicRoads about my license renewal, they answered the phone in under 3 minutes.

    • I got the busy message again later, and then a minute later bypassed by calling back using the "if you're calling from overseas" number - it seems to skip a lot of the menu system that way.

      • Yeah, I used the overseas number because… Well I am overseas.

It must put you near the front of the queue to help save you the international call charges.

  • Postal.

  • 'What did they tell you when you called them?'

Whichever address they find easier to card. ;)

You do know what a "Postal Address" is right?

  • Doh! - Why do you think it is called a "Postal Address"??

    • Doh! You do realise that for some organisations, a postal address is fine for general correspondence, but for bank cards or ID docs, they'll send to a residential address only?
