Anyone annoyed at all the eBay Plus and Amazon Prime deals that are showing up?

EBay plus and Amazon Prime are not for everyone and the membership is a cost. How about we start listing cost of items plus potential shipping instead?

All these services are doing is create a constant subscription based income for the companies and increasing their stickiness. It's not actually a plus for consumers to highlight it in my opinion.

Pretty there is an option to hide deals you don’t like seeing.
Just hide all eBay Plus and Amazon deals on your newsfeed rather than other people missing out possible bargains.

what I dont like is how eBay've inflated shipping cost to alot of items, $20 shipping for a small parcel is just ridiculous

    • eBay haven't done it, the vendors have, so we (eBay plus members) can get better prices and they don't lose. Most big sellers have two listings for their products, either including delivery, or excluding with eBay plus.

A smart ozbargainer signs up for these moneysaving programs, so nope, they don't bother me.

    I'm annoyed at :

    • Beggars in the City
    • Appco fund raisers in malls.
    • Bible Pushers.
    • People handing out Uber / Uber Eats / strip clubs* promo cards.
    • Disorderly drunks.

I just pretend they don't exist and move on, I recommend OP does the same.

    • not so much the strip club cards.
    • You forgot blue shirts with clipboards at the station.

They should be at least marked as targeted as you need to have membership to get them at that price.

    • +1

They have their own targeted tag, it's either [eBay Plus] or [Amazon Prime] already.

      • Can you hide them in the same way as normal targeted deals?

    • -2

Errr that's why they are posted as [Ebay Plus]

  • Too fast for me doweyy

  • +2

Yes I am really annoyed that there isn't more of them. Lift your game Amazon / Ebay.

    yes

the worst part is, all the people who think its the best thing since sliced bread while ebay/amazon eat the discounts themselves, but in the long run, all the costs will end up getting passed back to customers either directly, or by the vendors being charged more to sell via these methods.

    • How does anyone ever offer a discount then?

      • +1

most discounts involve someone taking a hit on their profit, either the manufacturer, wholesaler/distributor or retailer. sometimes a mix of the three

        • And how is that different to the eBay Plus and Amazon Prime discounts?

  • How about we start listing cost of items plus potential shipping instead?

    After you.

Amazon Au > Prime > Departments > Amazon Global Store > Free Ship over $49 = Worth every cent of subscription, rest of the prime stuff is a bonus.

It doesn't seem that long ago, people were complaining it was taking too long for Amazon to get to Australia. Now that it's here people find more things to complain about.

  • It's not actually a plus for consumers to highlight it in my opinion.

What do you mean by "in my opinion"? eBay Plus is $49 per year, if you save more than $49 per year, then it is a plus, if you don't then it is not. There's really no opinion in there at all.

People who find this worth it will buy it, people who don't won't buy it. It's exactly the same as anything else we buy and sell - just think of it as pre-paying for a year of shipping.

    Yeah.

"Requires Shipster", "Requires Prime", etc. should all be classified as something else or filterable.

This website is very poorly developed and needs a lot of improvements. It's weird that they don't do that.

  • EBay Plus is only $29 for the year currently with a free Google home mini! Makes it basically free for the year anyway, and i've noticed that there's many more ebayPlus items for same now. So for me very much worth it and would like to keep seeing the deals.
    Dunno about Prime. Optimus Prime?

  • FULLY AGREE WITH OP.
Unless you are a VERY REGULAR buyer of goods with relatively HIGH shipping costs

  • Perhaps I wasn't very clear in my original post as I realise reading the comments here that some have misunderstood the point of my post. Here's my train of thought, and hopefully its clearer this time - I think with Prime and Plus, they basically entrap you to keep spending with them in order to recover the cost of the membership, or make it more "sticky". Its also an extra revenue source.

If all of us vote with our feet and choose not to subscribe, we are likely to see more deals that comes with free shipping. By highlighting and emphasising Prime and Plus deals, long term, this is actually disadvantageous to shoppers overall as there is less incentive to offer free shipping. Your choice as a consumer also narrows as you now have to look at recovering your cost of the subscription as well which may force you into spending on items that are otherwise extraneous. I just don't see them as beneficial over the long term.
