Suggestions for a Good Parcel Forwarding Service from US to Australia

Hi all,

I wanted to buy a few items from the US (Amazon USA) and wanted to get it sent over here. Items are really small - 2 watch straps so it should not weigh more than 500g and costs around $30 USD. I realise that Amazon will not send the items here as they do not ship to Australia and they asked to use the Australian version however the Australian one does not have the particular item so I would prefer to buy from the States if I can. I was even ready to pay GST if I could but unfortunately that is not the case (damn you Gerry). I read further about it and found that I could use a parcel forwarding service for this. There are a lot of options so I wanted to ask the community what are some of best ones you have used. Ideally I don't mind waiting two weeks for the item to reach here and it's a reasonable charge.

TL, DR - Want to buy items from Amazon USA and send to Australia and need suggestions for a good parcel forwarding service.

MyUS and Shipito are reliable and legit.
MyUS I believe has an Amex deal discount so search for that if relevant.
Both carriers will charge you GST on the full value if the goods, potentially even including postage.

Do some legwork on MyUS and you will see they do deals for Visa, and also MC holders offering around 25% off their shipping rates. However, the minimum shipment charge of for 1 lb (453 gms) and after discount would cost about AUD20.00

  • Hi @GourmetFoodie and @Ocker,

Thanks for your suggestions. I had looked into Shipito prior to posting my question however I thought there may be better options too. MyUS also looks really good as they focus on the package weight rather than the dimensions so will look further into that. Shipping costs of $20 USD for a $30 USD item is quite high but I guess that seems to be the norm based on your recommendations. Based on my research so far, I believe that to benefit from such services effectively, I might have to buy in bulk (from multiple providers maybe) or have a massive saving from one higher priced item. Will keep that in mind for future purchases.

    Cheers.

    • Thanks a lot altomic. Did not know there was a wiki page for it.
      Cheers.
