Parcel forwarders in Hong Kong (for GearBest purchase)

I urgently need to buy something (Android tablet) from Gearbest but they aren't shipping to Australia any more.

The item would ship from HK.

Anyone know of any forwarders in HK? I'm not looking to dodge the new GHST, just to get it here legally.

I'd need to have a container of them to use any of the freight forwarders I've found.

Have you tried other stores, most of the items found on gear best can be found elsewhere

    • Yeah mate, but nowhere else comes within even $100 of the price. They're cheaper than what I just paid for a used one.

  • GearBest doesn’t ship to Australia anymore?

    • Well not for me it doesn't. I get "Destination prohibits the SKU, categories or item properties" when I try to check out. I'm told this is because of the new GHST rule.

If I pick an address somewhere else (eg.UK) it works fine.

      • WTF, I was going to order a whole bunch of shit from them. Dammit.

      • It's GST (Goods and Services Tax), unless they are now taxing something beginning with "h"?

    • This topic has come up a times, since early July

It's mainly mobile phones and tablets, that do not ship here.

GB rep has said they're working on something, but don't hold your breath https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6175448/redir

      • Cheers. GB should have pulled their finger out tbh.

  • Just thinking out of the box (and this IS bad news, no posting) if they'll post elsewhere at minimal cost use a forwarder in destination country.

Bloody Harvey AGAIN….(&&()* should really be banned from Ozbargain

    • I doubt he (Gerry Harvey) frequents Ozbargain tbh

      • He'd get beaten up

    • Shipping is free to anywhere, but I imagine that going via a third country would be asking for trouble.

  • What is it

    • Huawei Mediapad S3 LTE tablet. On special, $220 via Gearbest app. Usually around $400.

Very frustrating being able to almost touch it.

      • I'm in the same boat with the Lenovo tab 4 8 Plus, it's on special around $300 on GB and this model can't be bought here or even the US from what I've seen. (4gb ram 64gb storage).

I wonder if I can get it sent to one of my freight forwarders in another country? I have addresses in Japan, UK, USA, Canada. I do have a proper address in Japan but it will end up too expensive that way..

  • What about Zapals? Does Zapals still ship to Australia?

  • I doubt if what you want to purchase is urgently required if you're prepared to wait the delivery time from China!
I think your problem has more to do with price and I fail to see why you're trying to get around a supplier who no longer is prepared to ship to Australia by using an 'agent' who would, should you find one and you're prepared to take the risk, charge you for the service.
I'm afraid that you'll just have to accept what is happening.
You should blame your government for imposing the tax, which as I see it, is yet another example of them robbing the poor to give to the rich.

    • Know any other countries with no tax on imports up to $1000? I don't.

This is Gearbest's fault for not having got their house in order. I'd be happy to pay GST. I just can't.

      • The first sentence of your reply is irrelevant as is whether you're prepared to pay GST or not. You really should see beyond the notion that Australia is the greatest place on earth and that everyone should treat the country as such. Australia is a small country by population and the size of the retail market will reflect that.
Presumably, Gearbest have decided to cease trading with Australia because they are not prepared to collect a tax on behalf of another country and then pay that, at their expense, to that country. Why should they?
If Australia, or any country for that matter, wants to impose any tax on imports then they should do this at the border and not think that suppliers beyond its shores are going to do so, that's of course if they could ever police how much tax they hope to receive, but then this new import tax you have had brought in is to appease your whinging Australian companies, or more correctly their Billion/Millionaire owners, who can see the profits they have accrued by robbing the Australian buyer going elsewhere. Even your Dick Smith has admitted that Australian companies cannot, or rather will not if the truth be known, compete with 'foreign' suppliers.
As I have posted on other forum debates, I can purchase Australian made/produced products in the UK cheaper then what I can purchase them in Australia, and I live 10,000 plus miles away, and you should ask yourself how that can be, and if the answer is by subsidy, you should ask yourself why!

        • It isn't irrelevant. It's relevant to your whinge about "your government" implementing a 10% tax on low value imports. As I said, most countries do it. It's >20% into the UK for example.

Where is your evidence that GB are ceasing to trade with Australia anyway? People have reported that they're working on something. Seems far more likely that they're just not yet set up to collect tax on behalf of a foreign country.

And we're 25m people. That's a lot, if you're a business. About half the number of people that the EU is currently shitting itself about losing from its market of half a billion people.

It isn't irrelevant that I'm happy to pay GST. I've asked for help, and I'm making it clear I'm not looking for anything dodgy.

Thanks for your input, will read again.

        • @NeBlackCat:

I'm sorry but I find your comment too misguided, irrelevant and inaccurate to waste any more time writing a response too.

          Have a nice day.

  • Gearbest now seems to allow shipping to Australia again, via Singapore Post registered.

Only problem is that the tablet I wanted has gone up by $50.

Sometimes bargain hunting can be frustrating.
